The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to Sunday afternoon racing this weekend when the Pocono 400 takes place at Pocono Raceway, also known as the "Tricky Triangle."

Eric Jones is this week's most popular driver, having been selected by five players. Chris Buescher and Ty Dillon were each selected by three players.

Long time board member @dpkimmel2001 informed me that he's withdrawing from this year's game effective immediately, thereby leaving the game with 30 participants.

Thanks for your past participation and continued support, sir.

Last week I was the only one picking Jones. Looked great for a while, but bad pit mistakes gave me a blah finish. This week I’m the solo rider with the Dinger. My wife says my pick is the kiss of death on these guys :dual9mm:!

You're in 11th and I'm in 29th. I think the kiss of death is in my and @kkfan91 s pockets.

Ha. I am the kiss of death for at least one driver, Brad K, and he is my favorite driver too. Last year I picked him for Kentucky, his statistical best track. He crashed early and finished 39th..:flushed:

That result promoted Pocono to his best statistical track. I picked him this weekend, and he has been ~20th in every practice and qualified 17th. But hope springs eternal..:bounce:

But hope springs eternal.
One of the things that I really like about this game is 24th is a great finish for some drivers and an 8th is terrible for others. The hardest part for me, and probably others, is trying to pick where to put the C drivers. You can crunch numbers, think until your head explodes, research until your fingers are numb and It's still just a crap shoot. That's one reason why I think if I get a top ten every year then I've done well. :D

Based upon qualifying and practice, it'll be interesting to see just how many driver picks are able to manage a top ten finish.

Here's hoping for at least one . . .

Jones is starting 25th today and I don't like him at all but I'll be pulling for him.

Why don’t you like the kid? I picked Almirola and he hasn’t looked real strong this weekend either.

It's his all around attitude. His trainers have been working on that but to me It comes off as fake. :idunno:
I gotta agree. I think he's a mini Kyle Busch. It sucks because I feel bad for him and what he went through with his dad dying, but I just can't like him.JMO

I hope he parks it in victory lane today, though

Not going to happen.

30th place for Cole Whitt. Not a great finish, but you have to use a few drivers who typically get finishes like that.

Some good strategy and determination by Buescher and the 37 team scored me my second consecutive p17 finish by a C list driver. That being said, Buescher comes across on the radio as having as much energy as my 10-year-old cat does in the afternoon.:lol2: Anywho, I'll take it.:)

Congrats to @Clutch and @LewTheShoe who take this week's "Highest Finishing Pick" award with their selection of Brad Keselowski, the 5th place finisher of the Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway.

Over the last five races @Clutch has moved up fourteen positions in the standings (from 23rd to 9th) as his picks in those races have finished, on average, in slightly better than 7th place. Quite a comeback for the guy who missed the first two races of the year and then had an ineligible pick for the Richmond race.

Congrats are also in order for @DUN24 and @DanicaFreak who each had the most upward movement in the standings (five spots) thanks to their pick, Aric Almirola, finishing 7th.

Over the last four races @DUN24 has been on a roll, climbing twelve positions in the standings (from 26th to 14th) as his picks in those races have finished, on average, in approximately 9th place.

@Blake Hylton continues as the game's leader and has increased his lead over second place (currently @Moparhd9) to a season high 34 points.
