The deadline for submittal of driver picks for the next race is Saturday, August 22nd, 3:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Just a reminder that driver picks for the Saturday and Sunday races can be submitted simultaneously. :beerbang:

From the NASCAR Pick 'Em official rules...
7 - If a player picks a driver that, at the time of the pick deadline, appears on the entry list posted on NASCAR.com and that driver is then replaced in that car by another driver prior to the start of the race, then the replacement driver will be considered the driver pick for that player for that race.
A question for the Commissioner on driver substitutions... If a driver change is made *before* the Pick 'Em deadline, then is it my responsibility to make a new pick, or else get 41 points for an illegal pick?

For example, what would my situation be if I had picked Austin Dillon last week for Daytona, submitting my pick on Tuesday while he was entered, and then never changed my pick when he withdrew on Friday? Do I get 41 points but would still have Austin Dillon available to use in a future race?

In any case where the Commissioner would automatically assign a driver switch to a Pick 'Em player, what would be the rules on driver eligibility? That could get messy. Just lookin' for the gray areas of the rulebook... LOL...:dual9mm:

Defaults to whomever occupies the seat if you don't choose otherwise.

That's my guess.

Let me start by saying that late driver changes have always been the most difficult part of this game and something that's been wrestled with since the beginning.

The rule that you quoted was written with the noon Friday pick deadline in mind and intended to bail out a player who would otherwise be stuck with a driver that had withdrawn from the race after other players' picks had been posted.

Now that the pick deadline has been moved to an hour before the start of the race as opposed to two days before the start, that scenario isn't likely to occur. However, if it does the rule as written is in effect.

So to answer your question, yes, it is a player's responsibility to make a new pick if their original pick is replaced prior to the pick deadline. If the pick isn't changed, the driver is considered "ineligible" for that race and can then be used in any subsequent race.

However, being the generous soul that I am, I always try to send a player a "heads up" message if:
a) a driver picked is someone that has already been used by that player for a previous race
b) a driver picked is not on the entry list for the race in question
c) a driver picked has been replaced by another driver since the original entry list was made known

Hope this helps.

The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series puts on yet another double header weekend with the running of the Drydene 311 at Dover International Speedway.

The most popular pick for this race, selected by five players, is Jimmie Johnson`.

Bowman and Suarez were each selected by three players.
Good luck to all and thanks for participating.

Considering that Jones was involved in the first wreck 8 laps in, 12th is more than acceptable. It won't win me the game however. I did gain plenty of ground on the leaders.

This year there is way more parity in the game than last year. There where only two guys in contention @ the season finale in '19. The top 23 this year is separated by less than 100 points. That's crazy.

As C. Bell limped across the finish line in 22nd place, I ascended to the top of the leader board for the first time all year. HELL YEAH... big party tonight...

However, by sundown tomorrow, @dirtfan will pass me with a slide job and leave me in his dust. I'm nearly out of ammo, but he has been keeping his powder dry all year...:bazooka:

Gonna need about a dozen flashes in the pan.

My Byron pick was foolish in retrospect. Byron is not a closer, and the pressure is on that team now.

Congrats to @dirtfan who took the "Highest Finishing Pick" award when his pick, Clint Bowyer, finished sixth in the Drydene 311 at Dover International Speedway.

Congrats to @ToyYoda as he had the most upward movement in the standings by moving up five spots.

Congrats also to @LewTheShoe who took over first place in the standings for the first time this year. The top of the heap has tightened up considerably with 12 races left in the season as only a little more than fifty points separates first place from tenth place.

Finally, @DanicaFreak needs to make room in the trophy case after becoming the first player of the year to win the prestigious "Wiping Up the Rear" award twice. Kurt Busch made it all possible (with more than a little help form Erik Jones) when he was forced to retire from the race after just six laps resulting in his last place finish.
