What’s the all time no-pick record?

Once upon a time a player with four NO PICKS would automatically be removed from the game, the thought being that he must no longer be interested.

Since that rule was dropped the record is five, held by @Blaze last year and @Stewart Fan the year before.

Tbh the random name generator picks have worked much better than mine. Honestly I've had probably at least 5 or maybe even 10 picks this year that were VERY strong from lower-tier drivers who are good at a particular track etc and were even running well, but where they've just plain had **** luck - Johnson literally crashed on lap 1 when I picked him and Almirola this weekend for example. I saved him all year specifically for this race and he was LEADING when his wheel came off.

So seeing the luck I've had plus the random name thing, I'm just wondering if I should change to throwing darts at a list of remaining drivers every week moving forward. Any thoughts?

I've tried so many strategies through the years and I always end up about the same place, I think this year has been mostly luck so far and there is a chance the wheels could fall off at any point.

I have basically given up by now and just submitted my complete list of picks for the remainder of the season last week.

It has really been a very competitive battle all year, the top 5 has remained fairly close after most of the races.

The top 10 is within 1.5 laps of each other and many others still could still finish in the Top 10.

So many things can still happen with 16 races to go. Tighten up your seat belts and get on the wheel

To put it in the Gerbil:" EVERY POINT MATTERS"

I either finish top 5 or bottom 5 it seems like. lol
Me too. This is my fifth year playing this game. My first three attempts ended with top 5 finishes. Last year, I had insanely bad luck & finished in the high 20's. I've been very mediocre this year.

Fun fact …

9 of the current top 10 Pick ‘Em runners chose SVG for Chicago. What’s the plan for Indianapolis, fellas? 😇

Another fun fact is that over the last nine years that the game has been on this board, the champion's picks have finished, on average, in about 14th place (average points per race.)

Over 36 races that translates into a total of a little of 500 points for the season.

Getting out my trusty slide rule, I figure that in order to contend for the crown my remaining picks need to have an average finish of about . . . . . . . still working on it.

"a little over 500 points"

:owquitit:

Mother fock. I had a real good points day about 11 laps away. Just unreal.

There were better value picks than Hamlin today. Harrison Burton gets a rare top 10, Ty Gibbs also did well.
But the good thing about using Hamlin today rather than later is the bullseye he earned today.

He is going to get Chastain'd in the near future

Hambone is a complete AH. He slides up into people and wrecks them. He takes the air off rear ends in turns and wrecks them. Then he talks about his “innocence” on his car radio with his enabler crew chief. They NEVER do anything wrong to another car.

Bowman was so close! 11 laps away from his first top 10 since he came back. Rats. This is probably my absolute worst year since I started playing, I've had some good ideas this year, they just havent panned out.....which I guess makes them bad ideas.

You forget I had Hamlin pick today too. DQ incoming shortly I’m sure.

Congratulations to @Greg, @hmmm298, and @ToyYoda for taking the "Highest Finishing Pick" award following the first place finish of their pick, Denny Hamlin, in the HighPoint 400 at Pocono Raceway.

The surprising fifth place finish of Ty Gibbs enabled @RayinTX to maintain his hold on the top of the standings although he now shares it with @Head423, who used the second place finish of his pick, Tyler Reddick, to gain the top spot for the first time this season.

It should be noted that @Head423 has held a top five position in the standings since the sixth race of the season.

The "Most Upward Movement" award went to @JJ_14 who took advantage of his pick of third place finisher Martin Truex Jr. to move up four spots in the standings.

Not to be forgotten is @LewTheShoe, who took home both the "Slipping & Sliding" award and the "Wiping Up The Rear" award thanks to the last place finish of his pick, Daniel Suarez.
