Ready to make my move, maybe not this week, but next week for sure. With 11 races to go, I figure I'm in pretty decent shape with respect to my goal of scoring 540 points or less. Scoring 540 means an average of 15 points per race. I've come close a few times, but I've never scored 540 or less. I'm sitting on 421, so 119 points to play with in a strong finish.

I've kept my powder dry. I have nine good drivers for nine non-plate races. I need to score 90 points, averaging 10th place finish, for those nine races. Not easy, but possible if we get lucky.

Two more races on plate tracks, and I have a couple of dim-witted lead-foots that can luck into maybe a top-15 finish. I've got 29 points available for both Daytona and Talladega added together. Yikes!

As always, there are a range of strategies in play. @kkfan91's crazy algorithm is doing better than @Brentford's cat, but there is a long way to go. Of the "Keep The Powder Dry Brigade," I figure I'm maybe in third best position, after @dirtfan and @Magicmiler so I have work to do.

Let's go!!! :dual9mm:

I heard one of the announcers say they think Ryan Preece will win. Welp…there’s that! The dang announcers curse before the race even gets started!

Wow, all the leaders struggled, and I actually gained ground on first place. The whole field is about to get bunched up.

J.H. Nemechek, my dim-witted, lead-footed, warm-bodied jockey finished P17. Since my strategic plan (developed in consultation with hedge fund guru and stock car investor, Rob Kauffman) budgeted just 29 points to Daytona and Talladega combined, I'll need a top-12 finish when we get to 'Dega. Kauffman's mathematical derivative-based model says that is within 2 standard deviations... so we are still alive to fight another day.

I could do the math, but I’ll wait for the update to see how far is far for my drop this week.

Congratulations to @Greg, the recipient of the "Highest Finishing Pick" award following the fifth place finish of his pick, Eric Jones, in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

The leader of the standings once again is in the hands of @Conover in spite of the 35th place finish by his pick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, who was collected in an early race melee caused by an apparent brain cramp by Bubba Wallace.

A somewhat expected 30th place finish by Austin Hill enabled @JJ_14 to maintain his draft of @Conover and actually close the gap between himself and the leader.

After disappointing finishes by the picks of @Mr. E and @kkfan91 in the previous race, respectable finishes by their picks for Daytona (Gilliland and Ware, respectively) saw each of them regain the draft of @Conover which resulted in the distance between first and fourth place in the standings being reduced to a mere 10 points.

The Top Five club saw @antman12 maintain a hold on fifth place in the standings and the return of @DanicaFreak for the first time since the Dover race as @Hawaii808 was given a drop kick all the way to eighth place.

Meanwhile, the four race streak by @JJ_14 of picking a Top Five finishing driver came to an end with his pick of Hill while @Greg now has a streak of two consecutive Top Five picks (@Blaze has a streak of two consecutive Top Ten picks) in a late season attempt at making a run for the game's championship.

Rumor has it that @Greg, for the 10th consecutive year, is working on a draft of an acceptance speech that he hopes to deliver as the game's champion at the season ending Awards Banquet. Unfortunately, his mid-20th century Underwood typewriter developed a problem with its ribbon and work on the draft is on hold.

Along with the "Highest Finishing Pick" award, the "Most Upward Movement" award was also taken by @Greg as his fifth place finishing pick enabled him to gain five positions in the standings as well as move him 30 points closer to the leader.

The disappointing finishes by the picks of @Hawaii808, @2 Sweet, and @donthaveanickname resulted in each of them dropping four positions in the standings, thereby resulting in their being recipients of the "Slipping and Sliding" award.

However, it was the last place finish of Riley Herbst, picked by @2 Sweet, @donthaveanickname, and @ToyYoda that caused three "Wiping Up the Rear" awards to get dusted off and ceremoniously presented to each them for eternal safe-keeping in their respective trophy cases.

There were only 3 finishes inside the top 10 this weekend, that doesn't happen very often.

Hill was doing well before the wreck.

I have about 7 good drivers left for the last 10 races. I've got a pretty decent chance of winning the championship, let's see if my picks cooperate.

Thanks and I will be lucky this year just to finish in the top 20. I think there was a few others that picked Jones as well.

Correction: I previously read the results and posted while half asleep. Looks like I was the only that picked Jones and I am really happy about it compared to how bad I have been this year.

Wish it was possibile to gain 30 points on the leader every week.
