This is near where we live now. We flew up and went to the first race in 2022, the debacle where Hamcrap was trying to wreck Ross everywhere, slowing in front of him, basically exhibiting road rage multiple times during the race. Of course NASCAR did nothing at that moment or afterward to him, but he finished 30th to Ross’ 8th place 🤣.

We haven’t been back because the sight lines from the stands aren’t great. Better be really high up or ideally in those upper stands in the first turn to see how they are battling in the front stretch. But it makes for good racing.

We went last year and that too was my biggest complaint and the reason why I wouldn’t return. Sitting middle height at the entrance to turn 1, I could barely even see turns 3 and 4, along with the backstretch leading up to turn 3.

Yes, you sat almost where we were, about mid-height, kind of between the finish line and entrance to turn 1. Brought our son and daughter-in-law with us…it was her first NASCAR race. We had part of turn 1 and all of turn 2 blocked by massive big tent setup in the infield for the concerts. Then you couldn’t see the cars much coming down the front stretch because they hugged the outside wall. I even sent a detailed message to the track management about our experience, so they’d get constructive feedback.

I certainly don’t discourage none from going. Just be aware when ordering tickets. That first turn upper section has the very best seats. I think most were already sold out by fans renewing cause I couldn’t locate any there after the general public ticketing was opened up for this race.

It seems so basic especially for a track that wasnt built that long ago.
Always ensure the seats are elevated enough for the fans to see the track. If you want them to return.

It was between Zane and Nemechek, went with Zane to save Nemechek for later.

I knew there was a chance @Conover would go with Zane as well.

Welp, that was a worst-case scenario. On to Bristol!
Yep, this is why teams like Zane’s finish badly. I thought they would hold out as long as possible before that last pit stop, hopefully of a caution. Of course they come in, and THEN a caution happens! Killer 😩🤬. Still in it but need good finishes out of these back runners…

I think I have finally made the top 20 after spending most of the season in the high 20s.

But this may be the ceiling for me this year based on my remaining picks and the way things have already gone with my previous picks.

Congratulations to @dirtfan, the recipient of the "Highest Finishing Pick" award following the first place finish of his pick, Denny Hamlin, in the Enjoy Illinois (Or Not) 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

The breakaway battle at the top of the player standings was reduced by one due to the lap down, 33rd place finish of @Conover's pick (the standings leader after the last race) which resulted in him getting bull-rushed by the Top Ten picks of @Mr. E and @kkfan91, thereby causing @Conover to lose the draft and dropping him back two positions.

Thanks to a sixth place finish by his pick, John Hunter Nemechek, the top of the player standings was taken over by @Mr. E for the first time this race season but his rear view mirror is absolutely full of @kkfan91, hot on his tail with eight races left until a game Champion is crowned.

While @JJ_14 lost ground to the leader for the second consecutive race, @antman12 used the fourth place finish of his pick, Ryan Blaney, to move closer to the front runners as did numerous other players due to the misfortunes of @Conover.

Making a late season attempt at upward movement in the standings, seventeen players picked a Top Ten finishing driver including six players that have picked Top Tens in each of the last two races.

In addition to the "Highest Finishing Pick" award, @dirtfan also snagged the "Most Upward Movement" award by moving up four positions in the standings as well as fourteen points closer to the leader of the pack.

A six position drop in the standings and a twenty point loss to the leader was cause for @Magicmiler to take possession of the "Slipping and Sliding" award as his chances of delivering a Champion's acceptance speech at the Awards Banquet grew considerably less likely.

Don't sleep on wily ol' @Magicmiler. He's kept his powder dry (and available for a late surge) better than anyone else. Of the eight "A" drivers, he has used only Briscoe... and every other player has also already used Briscoe except for one (@FLRacingFan still has the #19 available). So he might still be in the game, if he gets a little good luck. :bazooka:

New Hampshire and Phoenix are my 2 biggest concerns based off my picks, though one of them has been on a roll lately so hopefully he keeps it up. Obviously Talladega can throw a wrench in things.

I'm at least for now, back in the top 20.

As @Clutch, the game's 2019 Champion, pointed out several threads ago, putting together a string of positive numbers in the " +/- points relative to leader " column is at least as important as increasing one's position in the standings.

Also, tracking the remaining drivers left in the stables of the players ahead of you in the standings can come in handy. :puffin:
