Deadline to select your driver is Friday, May 5th, noon Eastern time.

Looks like I misspelled the site of the race in the thread title . . . .:owquitit:

Me too except for this week.....guess I'm waiting to decide who I think will score the most points...because that's apparently been my trend.
This week is a little tricky because there are a couple guys you could pick here that you might not be able to use except on plate tracks, but they aren't locked in and two cars are going home.

Exactly my actual dilemma..... I have a plan in place for the entire season hence why I picked garbage people at the beginning of the season this week I'm having apprehensions about sticking with my plan

Started with The Decision Genie. Strayed once - no more.

But, she's in her day off cycle 'n I respect that. It'll hafta wait.

Does anyone know which teams don't have a charter? I've searched quite a bit and don't really trust what I've found.

Talladega is an impound race, so you have to start the race with the exact same setup used in qualifying. That can get weird for the "open" teams. Remember last fall, when Reed Sorenson used a full-blown qualifying setup to make the race, and then had to return to the garage after the green flag to change his setup to something that could go 500 miles? With six open teams this year, could there be more of this qualifying warfare to come?

From Beyond The Flag... "The surprise of the opening round of qualifying came from Reed Sorenson when he ran a first-round lap faster than the pole-winning lap at Talladega by Chase Elliott earlier this season. The lap time of 49.324 seconds was easily close to a second better than many of the other cars that ran in the opening round.

Later during qualifying it was confirmed that Sorenson ran a qualifying setup that would not sustain race conditions and that is why he was able to turn the lap that he did. For Sorenson, making the race was more important than losing time during the race to reverse the setup changes from qualifying."

As a kid I remember one overly optimistic teacher who had a habit of saying, "It's good to see a room full of bright shiny faces all in their places."

With that said, anticipation of the Talladega race seems to have encouraged all of the players of the game to make a timely submittal of their picks, which range from several A-list picks to one driver who I'm not even sure is guaranteed to start the race.

I'll post the complete list of picks later today.

The picks for this week's "anything can happen" restrictor plate race primarily consists of drivers who typically aren't expected to do well at non-restrictor plate races.

However, several players went with a "no guts - no glory" mentality and picked A-list drivers (Keselowski & Earnhardt Jr.) despite the possibility of those drivers getting caught up in "the big one."

And two players took that mentality a step further and picked drivers (Sadler & Gaughan) who aren't even guaranteed to start the race.

Good luck, fellers !

I have the 2 but it was The Decision Genie’s choice.

Told her I was worried about the Penske folks gettin’ caught cheatin’ again. She told me I could bet my rear-end on ‘em ‘n if I didn’t trust ‘er I could get skewed.

David RayGun.

Sunday is your day ... don't pay any attention to anything Ken says.

Yep. I figured the first Dega race after his retirement announcement would be as good as any.
Yeah I was waiting to use him for he 2nd one last year and then he sat at so I wasn't getting bit again.

Time for us to make up some ground eh @Johali
I almost used him, but I want to run it out this year with almost all mid to top tier teams. I'm saving Ragan for the 400 at Daytona. I'm not sure about those that picked Whitt, though he was running way less rpm than most other teams in qualifying. That might be a great thing in the draft.

Both Sadler & Gaughan qualified so all players have some skin in today's race.

Personally, considering how few Cup races that he runs in and that he has a decent chance of finishing well, I think today's pick of the litter is Sadler.

I'm all in on DiBennedetto.

Any of 'em have pretty much an equal chance of bein' fodder for The Big One(s) the fans love so much.

Happy with the Almirola pick but dammit should have gone with Stennie

TALLADEGA BABY !!!

Congrats to the majority of the the players this week as, for the most part, a whole bunch of good picks were made.

Kudos to @SlicedBread22 for picking race winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and for also being the biggest mover in the standings, moving up 4 positions to 14th place, and that includes two weeks without making a pick.

Kudos also to @Hotrod who traded places with @Michfan once again and took back first place in the standings.

Meanwhile, @Snappy D held onto 3rd place for the fourth consecutive week and once again seems poised to pounce on the lead position.

Sincere condolences  are in order for @AdoubleU24 who took a hit with the Landon Cassill pick and dropped 5 spots to the 15th position.

Finally, the middle of the standings is up for grabs as less than 40 points separates 4th place from 17th.

Yeah I've got about as good of luck as Chase Elliott on plate tracks with this game. Cassill had a great finish coming and then - :flushed:
