For the first time since the track opened in 1999, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will not be making a stop at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

The 15-race West Series 2012 schedule was released on Friday. Three new tracks were added to the schedule, and the West Series will make three visits to California.

Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, which hosted the annual Fourth of July race on the West Series, is not part of the NASCAR developmental series schedule. Toyota Speedway also lost the All-Star Showdown race, an annual event that pitted the top drivers from the K&N Pro Series West and East.

"They didn't take a date," said Jason Christley, the manager of communications for the NASCAR developmental series. "I'd say we're very satisfied with the East and West schedule. It's one of the best schedules we've ever had."

Christley said tracks are sanctioned for races on the West and East series on a yearly basis. He did not rule out the possibility of the West Series returning to Irwindale in the future.

Toyota Speedway officials were not available for comment.

The West Series does not have a July 4 race date either. The Fourth of July is traditionally a popular date for NASCAR races at short tracks throughout the country.

"The schedule's the schedule," Christley said. "It's like a big jigsaw puzzle. It's a coincindental by-product. We're not saving the July 4 date for anyone."

The West Series opens March 3 at Phoenix International Raceway. Stockton 99 Speedway, Infineon Raceway in Sonoma and All-American Speedway in Roseville are the California tracks on the West Series schedule.

This makes me sad. I like the racing there. It's a track where people are able to stick it out and make good passes. From what I have seen anyhow.

Somehow I missed that when looking over the schedule. It's a shame, Irwindale is a really great track. I'm glad i made it there before the K&N Pro series stopped going there. I really like the west series schedule for 2012, but hopefully Irwindale will be back on it soon.

That could be the story right there.

So is there no Showdown race anymore or did they move it? I hope its still going on in january was always a good race to break up the winter. Was good racing at that track

Googled my own question lol

As of right now the 2012 All-Star Showdown has been cancelled and has no plans yet to a re-schedule........damn shame!

sounds to me irwindale didn't want to pay sanctioning or event fees?

Yep, unless they got the very profitable July 4th race. I remember hearing some where that Toyota wasn't willing to pay for naming rights to the all star challenge either.

That wouldn't suprise me at all. Sanctioning fees can be ridiculous.
our local track is doing a driver poll to leave NHRA and join IHRA. So far, it's 11 on 2 to switch. Gonna have a formal poll at the track banquet next week.

Yeah that was cancelled a while ago. Just announced the July K&N race there is cancelled too. What a shame. It's such a great track. They should not only get the K&N Pro series there, but also the trucks and nationwide series One of the best tracks around.

These two races are More victims of our failing economy. It's looking like a couple of the Big races here in Florida are going to have to cut back purses to be able to run this year and Who Knows about next year?
It's becomeing impossible to find race sponsors at the same time that cost's ( insurance mostly ) are skyrocketing.
