Goodyear Racing Notes: Phoenix Raceway

NASCAR Cup Series teams will use the same Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup at Phoenix Raceway this weekend that was used at the Arizona track for November’s Championship Race.

The right-side tire was raced at Bowman Gray Stadium in February; the left-side tire will be making its 2026 debut. In addition to Phoenix 2025, this tire setup was also used at Bowman Gray, Martinsville Speedway (spring), North Wilkesboro Speedway, Richmond Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway last year.

NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams will run a new left-side tire at Phoenix, paired with the right-side tire used last season at Phoenix and World Wide Technology Raceway.

“The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup we’ve brought for NASCAR Cup Series teams this weekend was proven on track last season, and the knowledge teams gained will allow them to focus on their performance this weekend,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear Director of Racing for the Americas. “The new left-side tire for O’Reilly Auto Parts Series teams includes a change to the tread rubber. This change is in line with the refinements we’ve made to our short-track Cup Series package to promote more fall-off and better racing between cars.”

Teams in both series will also have wet-weather tires available if needed.

Vertigo can come on suddenly, sporadically, can be unpredictable. I’m sure the extensive testing was to try and locate the source. They may still not know, or it could be identified and they need to be sure he’s recovered from symptoms over a long enough period to assure it’s over.

In college I was standing outside a classroom waiting for a friend to exit, when everything went spinning like the worst ride you’ve ever been on! Turned out to be inner ear related, and some meds cured it.

I like Alex. He’s been a solid yet under appreciated driver for a number of years.

This is 3 of the last 5 years he’s missed time with injuries. It may be time to consider life outside the race car.

So many people fail to realize that these drivers are people. When he steps out of the car he needs to have a quality of life.

Alex was an awesome kid when he first started driving quarter midgets and he is still an amazing young man. It really sucks seeing him have so many physical problems at this point in his career. He has been caught up in so many accidents that were no fault of his own. I hope he has a full recovery and can keep racing for years to come.
