Dale Earnhardt Jr. vs. Danica Patrick: Could Danica unseat Junior as most popular?

Dale Earnhardt Jr. won his 10th consecutive NASCAR Most Popular Driver award Thursday.

The mark for consecutive awards ties NASCAR legend Bill Elliott, and Earnhardt is aiming for Elliott’s all-time mark of 16 most popular awards.

But Earnhardt knows his streak could end at any time.

And he knows there is one driver coming who could end it soon.

Her name is Danica Patrick.

“She’s quite popular in her own right,” says Earnhardt, who hired Patrick to drive for his JR Motorsports Nationwide Series team from 2010-2012. “Danica is a great example of popularity and recognition.”
