NASCAR sucks now. Support your local tracks.

LakeView is closer to two hours from here. J'ville; would that be New River? That's is a solid 90 minutes but if they run days, I'll take a look at the schedule.

Thanks.

See you all at the World Series of Asphalt in January.

Actual passing and ****.
You'll get trashed by the fan boys in here, but I agree. Honestly I follow the NFL and, for my racing fix, F1 and NHRA a lot more now. Say what you want about F1, it was much better this year and they have a full season Championship.

My interest in NASCAR will be in the toilet as long as they have this pathetic point set up and get the decide what wins "count" and which wins don't. It's completely arbitrary.

Anymore I pretty much watch the Daytona 500, the Bristol and Martinsville races and the Coca-Cola 600. Complete junk that the 600 is on Amazon Prime now starting this year. Rest of the year maybe I'll watch a little of a race if I'm bored or if the weather is bad and I'm stuck inside. But my days of truly following NASCAR, at least for now, are done. Only race I even consider going to anymore is the Daytona summer race, and that's just because usually I can get dirt cheap tickets for it. And heck, I only live 60 miles from Daytona International Speedway. I haven't been to the Daytona 500 since 2018 because of how absurd the ticket prices have gotten for that. But I get where you're coming from.

I’ve been losing interest in NASCAR for years. I don’t usually watch the Daytona 500; it turns into a junkyard at some point.
I hope 23XI kicks some butt in court.

Obviously as you can tell by my name, I was a big Tony Stewart fan. Once Smoke retired, I started losing interest but still kept some interest due to Stewart-Haas Racing and Kevin Harvick. My fandom for Harvick was not at the level that I had for Smoke, but I still wanted him to win races and do well. To me he was the last of the old generation and last of driver's I could truly identify with.

Once Harvick retired at the end of the 2023 season, that was kind of it for me. I hardly watched any racing this year. And once football starts, forget it. I didn't watch a single lap of the "playoffs".

If NASCAR even wants to have a chance, they have to get away from competing against the NFL. The NASCAR season either needs to end with the Southern 500 at Darlington on Labor Day Weekend or at least by the middle of September.

Yeah. it's tough that racing gets in the way of football.

I agree with you on the playoffs being a gimmick. The schedule itself I don’t really think is a pressing issue.

Say what you want but it hurts NASCAR. Many people who might be casual NASCAR fans tune out when the NFL starts. I can tell you right now, if NASCAR and my NFL team are on at the same time, my NFL team absolutely takes priority. And that's true for many casual NASCAR fans.

The PGA Tour was smart. They moved the PGA Championship up to May and their season is essentially over by September so they don't compete with the NFL. Sure there are some events, but the core PGA Tour events are over and don't start back up until January.

IndyCar gets it right. In 2025 their last race is August 31st. That allows them to not directly compete with the NFL.

Even the College Football Playoff games got crushed ratings wise by random Saturday NFL games.

You go up against the NFL, you lose. It's as simple as that. So why not end the season on Labor Day Weekend at a historic track like Darlington and a historic race like the Southern 500? Have a few weekday races in the summer when kids and many adults take time off.

Have double header weekends at Atlanta and Talladega instead of separate weekends. One race on Saturday, one race on Sunday. Have the All Star Race on a weeknight. Heck back in the day the season used to start in late January/early February before the Daytona 500. Maybe start the season at Phoenix and Vegas before the Daytona 500. It really wouldn't be that hard.

Here's how I would do the 2025 NASCAR Schedule:

Sunday, January 19th - NASCAR Clash at Bowman Gray
Sunday, January 26th - Las Vegas
Sunday, February 2nd - Phoenix
Sunday, February 16th - Daytona 500
Sunday, February 23rd - Homestead-Miami
Sunday, March 2nd - Circuit of the Americas
Sunday, March 9th - Darlington
Sunday, March 16th - Martinsville
Sunday, March 23rd - Bristol
Sunday, March 30th - Mexico City
Sunday, April 6th - Texas
Wednesday, April 10th - Phoenix
Sunday, April 13th - Nashville
Saturday, April 26th - Talladega
Sunday, April 27th - Talladega
Sunday, May 4th - Sonoma
Wednesday, May 7th - Las Vegas
Saturday, May 10th - Kansas
Sunday, May 11th - Kansas
Sunday, May 18th - Dover
Wednesday, May 21st - All Star Race
Sunday, May 25th - Coca-Cola 600
Sunday, June 1st - Pocono
Sunday, June 8th - Michigan
Sunday, June 15th - World Wide Technology Raceway
Sunday, June 22nd - Watkins Glen
Saturday, June 28th - Atlanta
Sunday, June 29th - Atlanta
Sunday, July 6th - Chicago Street Course
Saturday, July 12th - Daytona
Wednesday, July 15th - Charlotte Road Course
Sunday, July 20th - New Hampshire
Sunday, July 27th - Indy
Sunday, August 3rd - Iowa
Saturday, August 9th - Richmond
Sunday, August 16th - Martinsville
Saturday, August 23rd - Bristol
Sunday, August 31st - Darlington

Only 4 Wednesday night races. 2 of those would be right in North Carolina within easy driving distance to Charlotte. Heck 1 is right at Charlotte and the other is the All Star Race at North Wilkesboro. The Wednesday Night Phoenix race would be after Texas and the Wednesday night Vegas race would be after Sonoma so they are already in the area. The haulers could have cars for both weeks and drivers could just go straight to the next race and not fly to/from Charlotte. Season over by Labor Day weekend, no direct competition with the NFL with no reduction in races. And I did all of that in 20 minutes. Smarter than the schedule NASCAR puts together.

I watch every points-paying Cup race, and most Xfinity and Truck races. While there are changes I'd love to see, I find the current products entertaining. My therapist is suggesting a new medication that AstraZenica can help me afford, but I'm not switching until it sponsors Austin Dillon.

Bad idea because of the NFL playoffs. NASCAR is smart honestly on this, they compete against the NFL’s regular season instead of the insane viewership of the playoffs. 56 Million people watched the NFL Championship games

I really miss nascar as we are in the heart of the off season. I haven’t been as engaged this year with the other sports but I usually never try to miss a race. I think we’re 40 something odd days away from Daytona and I couldn’t be happier, this doom and gloom thread makes me depressed. While I personally hate the playoff system, not all is bad…I did check out when Larson and Bell were eliminated but the vast majority of the regular season was really fun.

I lost both of our close (50 to 60 miles) Short Tracks, Desoto Speedway Bradenton and 4-17 in Punta Gorda, plus East Bay Race Way a dirt track in Tampa.

I wouldn't go to or watch and NFL game. I'LL leave it at that.

With the new TV streaming on multiple channels and all the other where the hell is the race this weekend, I am close to having enough of NASTYCAR.

I would be willing to pay for a Nascar Channel that is like the F1 races (NO COMMERCIALS)

Truth be told, if it was not for Ross Chastain racing Cup, I'd be done, with the way things are at Nascar nowadays.

That would be nice to have a dedicated racing channel, but I don't think the TV weasels could suck enough money out of us to do so. I'm pretty happy with Flo and all that they cover, Xfinity is going to be good being on one channel along with the Trucks on Fox, but I think the Cup series is shooting themselves in the foot. Time will tell.

I certainly don’t think NASCAR sucks today but I enjoyed it more in the 80’s. I can say the same about football too as I find the NFL & college ball pale in comparison to decades ago.

Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston is an option for you

Still love NASCAR, wife and I watch every race either live or via cloud recording. Is it as good as other years/eras? Highly subjective question, as every fan will answer based on their own history, experiences, ideas. Here are mine for the sake of the chat:

> Today’s version is among the most competitive ever based on number of winners and teams competing regularly. Of course they drive nearly identical cars by design. Is that good or bad? It’s much better than the previous versions of the Gen # cars, and there is no question we have a lot of good drivers. Ratings are up a bit. Usually entertaining and sometimes amazing finishes.

> I’ve been around a long time, so my favorite drivers eventually retired, and then my next favorites retired, and the next. What to do? Find several you really like and become a fan. I look for guys who have characteristics that naturally make me want to root for them. Ross Chastain is the real deal, a farmer, an old school throwback racer who’s worked his tail off to get here. I also pull for a couple more. At the short track, the PA announcer would shout out just before the start…”who are ya ridin’ with tonight folks?” Having some favorites you’re invested in makes it fun. Or in the case of Revman, a brand like HIS Toyotas!

> Best racing era? My favs were the mid 80’s to mid 90’s, along with the 70’s decade Petty/Pearson/Allison/Yarborough years. There’s no replicating those periods, as they represented the best of old school tough drivers (70’s) and the merging of old school and new school influence with the Earnhardt - Gordon et all.

> Local and regional short track racing is a jewel, a throwback to the heart of old stock car racing. Some tracks are better than others, but if you’ve got one nearby be sure to go see them run.

You must not be paying attention to the NFL putting games on Netflix and Prime and the NFL Network. Also F1 is on F1 TV Pro which is an upcharge. Go away, we wont care

F1 has a long term contract with ESPN for carriage in the US.

If you don't like something in racing, there's infinite options available now for viewing. If you can only watch one thing and you're mad about that, that's a you problem.

Nascar has definitely lost a lot of its luster to me. I find myself watchin less and less of it.

I have never actually been to a Nascar race myself because I never had anyone to go with. This year my girlfriend said she would be willing to go to the 600 if we could find some stuff for her to do in Charlotte prior to the race. But I'll be honest this lawsuit is really killing my interest in things. Probably try to hit the local tracks of Plover and Marshfield and call it good.

I'm not sure I get this view. The lawsuit will have no impact on the racing this season, and possibly no significant impact ever.

What does your lady enjoy doing? Several of us here can make suggestions for the Charlotte area.

It's just a bunch of rich people claiming to be broke, while expecting the peasants to support them.

She had done some research and found some museums and an aquarium? or something along those lines she was interested in. That's the stuff she's into, not loud cars going in a circle lol!
