NASCAR officials announced Tuesday that Bill Davis Racing crew member Amanda Mathis has been suspended and placed on probation for an incident during the Craftsman Truck Series race June 14 at Michigan International Speedway.

Mathis, the team’s public relations representative, has been suspended until July 30 and placed on probation for the end of the season. She is no longer employed by BDR.

NASCAR penalized her under Section 12-4-F of the truck series rule book: “any member who participates in fights or altercations in the pits or on the race premises.”

NASCAR said Mathis was involved in a prerace altercation with track security officials.

Hmmm... so if you're a tough chick on the track, you get suspended and if not, you can't take the crap from the guys and get fired and then file a lawsuit. LOL ;)

So fighting is against NASCAR rules again? Whatever happened to letting drivers show their personalities and being allowed to have emotions and "we're not gonna penalize drivers or crew members for fighting"???

Oh yeah, that's right, I forgot, this is NASCAR....rulebook's written in pencil.

Not knowing what the circumstances are in the altercation, I doubt if any of us could sit and judge Nascar on this one right now.

I have seen how some of the security people are treated by crews, sponsors and fans. It seems that unless they are wearing a firearm on their side, they don't get any respect at all. And even if they are armed, you get people with attitudes that think their pass guarantees them the right to do and say whatever they please.

Emotions are understandable and showing them during a race for a race incident is one thing. Having a fight with security is another.

I would like to hear what the confrontation was all about before I start beating up on Nascar for saying one thing and doing another.

I'm with you, Guido. I've also seen how security people are treated.

I'm going to wait a while on this one.

But on the other side, I've seen how some of the security crews treat fans.

Ever been to Dover? They're the absolute worst. One of the security guards shoved some old man (who had trouble walking, had a cane) into some other people because he was using the outside line to walk (which Dover clearly states is for handicapped people). My brother said to me that he thought it was arrogant and that them uninstalling the caution light wasn't that important that they had to shove the man (that wasn't in their way in the first place) out of the way. Someone ran their mouth to that particular security crew member. Instead of ignoring it and doing his job, he decided to come up and start an argument with my brother.

I don't know how often this happens, but I was not impressed by that particular instance.

Like you said though, we don't know the circumstances. Could be something harmless, could be something bigger. :idunno:

But, as far as security crews go, it can go both ways.

well........ uhhhhhhmm.......lol. Im gonna be quiet....lol....... PR person gettin this kinda publicity......lol........

It definitly goes both ways on this. Some people do think they are the coolest cause they bought pit passes and now they are above everybody and can do what they want. On the other hand people see they are working for NASCAR and think it makes them better than you and they have to make sure you know it. Main reason i quit going to NASCAR events is cause there is alot of that going on and it makes you sick. Its getting less and less about the racing around those places. I have had more than one arrogant prick give me **** over something when i was minding my own business. Hell I was checking out the rear end mounts on a show car and some dude came up and gave me crap at chicagoland like i was going to find some crazy secret on a show car of all things! The speed stage is another place where I have ran into that crap.

But them die hards will always be there just to watch. I only watch cause it's more like a soap... Who's gettin fined or booted this week??? Be sure to tune into 'Dega next week for full details LMFAO

And just how were you checking out the rear end mounts?

Were you under the car. Did you have your hands in the car or on it?

Just wondering what you were doing as we don't usually give anyone **** over anything as long as they keep their hands off the car.

Don't know what you circumstances were but I am curious.
