NASACR Thunder 2003 is being shipped to a store near you. The release date for the game is September 19, 2002 so check your local video game store, Toy's R Us, or Wal-Mart for what looks to be the best NASCAR video game ever made.
 
I've already got it bought and paid for.:D Gonna pick it up tomorrow. From what I've read and the screenshots I've seen it's going to be a huge improvement from last years. A lot more of everything. And you can get Big E's car on this one, unlike last years. That pretty much sucked.

I will wait for the reviews on this one. I still play Nascar 98 on my playstation 1! Almost bought Heat 2002 last year, but I got the kids something instead. I like having 43 cars on the track, but I hate that they don't show some sponsors. Geez, if it is a rating problem, I say higher the rating and get MORE sales!:D

Also, does anyone have the Sprint Cars Outlaw game for PS2? How is that one?
 
I heard it's pretty good. Ask the guys in the dirt track board...if you dare. :)
 
why haven't they made a new game for P.C.s ? I have been playing nascar heat and was waiting for Nascar Heat 2002 but it looks like it is not coming.:mad:
 
Whoo Hoo, today is the day and there is only a half a days work left! I'm ready to get home and try that puppy out. I'll prolly be up to the wee hours of the morning playing that game.:) Good thing tomorrow is Friday.
 
I'm also pumped up for it. Can't wait to pick it up today.
 
I just hope that the car control isn't too much different than last years. I was whipping my roommate by 400-500 points a season and winning at least 20 times a season on legend mode until he got tired of gettin his ass kicked all the time. I do hope that the computer cars are made "smarter" and that they are more competitive at higher levels.
 
I just saw on the website where they are going to have a three mile oval that you run counter-clockwise. That should be interesting.:eek:
 
Does anyone know if Kingdom Hearts for PS2 also came out today. I'm going up to work later today (at Toy's R Us) to get NASCAR Thunder 2003 and was also wondering if Kingdom Hearts came out so I can pick it up to (it looks like it is going to be a really good RPG with Disney and Final Fantasy characters).
 
Is nascar Thinder 2003 only on PS2?? I'm too cheap to buy one so i'm hoping its out on Game Cube... Otherwise i'm stuck with nascar 2000 for PSX.. it looks more exciting with 43 cars instead of 18..
 
If I'm correct (usually I am) it is coming out on PS2, X-Box, and Gamecube.

Has anyone played Thunder 2003 yet. I didn't get to pick it up today (car problems) and was wondering how much better it is from last years version.
 
It is a WHOLE lot better than last years version. I would highly suggest buying it if you like racing games. I just wish I didn't have to work all day today or I'd be at home playing that sucker.
 
I like it a lot. The career mode is very deep. Car handling is alot tougher this year. It is goona take awhile to figure it out.

HH - the new Heat looks awesome this yr too. Comes out in Nov.
 
I finally got it today. I will try to post a reveiw by Monday/Tuesday (I like to play a game for a few days before I post a reveiew of it).

Have you played N2K2 by sierra/papy on P.C ?

( N2K2 is Nascar Racing 2002 season made by Sierra/Papy.. )

I'm not raining on your parade , But it looks to me you haven't seen the best yet..

Thunder (a.k.a Heat) was made for consoles primarily and it's arcadish etc. The real deal is N2K2 on the P.C and soon the 2003 season will be out..

You can totally customize this game .. Add on GALORE (Free to) .. Theres a ton more add-ons etc. for N2K2 than any other game out there.. Check out www.esmotorsports.com to get an Idea..

The pic quality is kinda of bad due to the sizing of the picture. If you look close you can see the Bud Blimp in the RR mirror (Add-on) ..

Yes, but those of us without a Star Trek machine use Playstation. What are the medium requirements to run NK2K? Details please.

I don't have the box in front of me now. But before I bought my new star trek system (2.2 G) I was running N2K2 on a 550 , 128 RAM with a G2 video card, Sound blaster ..

If you are into racing sims you should pick this title up..

then why is my N2K2 all screwed up?
It'll get to where it says loading data after I pick my track, then it'll just cut off...go back to my desktop. what in the hell is up with it?
 
back to what this post was originaly about, NASCAR Thunder 2003 is a must buy for any NASCAR fans with a Playstation 2. The new features like the MRN moments, Thunder Licences, and a better Carrer Mode are major pluses for this game. Plus from what I have read you can also play as the late Dale Earnhardt in this edition ( they took him out of the 2002 version ).

I have Thunder 2003 for PS2. Played it all weekend. The career mode is very deep. You start off with nothing. I'm running it at legend (hardest) and I'm lapped traffic every race. Very tough. Team management is key. You have to constantly be doing R & D or repairs. You have to sign your team. Again, very detailed. The handling physics seem to be better this year. The car set up feature is a little more extensive but still is nowhere as detailed Heat. All in all, the game gets a A- from me. Not to be redundant, but the career mode is great and it is going to take me a while before I get to be competitive (which is good!).
 
I'll agree...if you're looking for a sim, NASCAR 2002 Season is the way to go.
 
I know I'm late to this discussion but it looks like most people think think Sierra is better than EA Sports although they both are good.

I only have a PC and have EA Sports NASCAR 2000 which I liked and I have Sierra's N4 which I found harder at first but now prefer.

EA's NASCAR Thunder 2003 is the first for a PC since 2000 so is it a lot better than 2000? Also, are there any sites you can go to for good setups like you can with N4?

I am planning on buying NASCAR 2003 by Sierra whenever it comes out but would like to have EA's Thunder 2003 as well if it's good.
