NASCAR ticked at Wally Dallenbach?

the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that "at least one official blew a gasket over Wally Dallenbach's report for NBC/TNT before the Watkins Glen race 10 days ago on the different philosophies of on-track medical care." "That was about as biased a piece as I have ever seen," NASCAR vice president Jim Hunter told AJC motorsports writer, Rick Minter. "They sat down with Mike Helton and did a long interview, and they edited out everything that he said about the way we do things and talked about how great the traveling medical team with CART is," Hunter said. "Well, it happens to be Wally Dallenbach's father who was instrumental in starting that medical team with CART. I can understand Wally thinking his father's deal is better than somebody else's, but that was poor journalism." As for Hunter's charge that too many of Helton's remarks were cut, Dallenbach said, "That's 100 percent b.s." He said Helton made his point on-air and declined an invitation to expound on his defense. "If the CART people told their story better, it's not my fault."

So, is it poor journalism? Or fair and balanced? No, I'm not talking the Fox News fair and balanced, I mean fair and balanced.

I never seen the piece but reading about it and seeing both NASCAR and CART in action, I think I'm safe in my opinion. CART has a safety team that is far superior to anything that any other motorsports could throw at it. If you have seen these guys in action, they are phenominal. We have also seen some recent bumbling in NASCAR with the fire crews. Was the piece poor journalism...I doubt it, was it fair and balanced...I doubt it since CART is light years ahead of NASCAR and NASCAR doesn't have enough to balance it ...was it biased. Probably since Dallenbach SR. was involved and the same reason that CART is light years ahead of NASCAR. I don't think you could do a piece without NASCAR looking a little inferior compared to what else is out there.

Maybe a biased piece of journalism, but it is the truth and NASCAR better fix this problem before someone is killed! This is NA$CAR sensorship at work once again....

Hey, I really doubt Wally had a lot to do with the editing of piece. He just gets the story and has someone else pick and choose what is seen. Am I right?

Yeah basically thats the thing in broadcast journalism, I guess they just edit for time purposes. Wally couldve done like a 2 hour interview or "package" as they call it and the editing probably slimmed it down to 5 minutes so I dont really blame him.

I agree with 97. If Nascar would address the problem then Wally wouldn't have had a issue to comment on. Instead they would rather stay with the 60's system.
