Due to the circumstances that took place at Dover with a number of Chase drivers being a lap or more down most of the race and a non-Chase driver nearly winning, NASCAR will make the following changes to next year's Chase.
1. Chase drivers and non-Chase drivers will be split into their own respective race such as it's done in the Grand Am circuit with the different classifications. There will be two winners (one in each class) per race.
2. All Chase racers will remain on the lead lap for the whole race unless their car is involved in a crash and cannot return. If they have other mechanical issues, they will still be placed on the lead lap once they return to the race.
3. Chase drivers will start each race in the Chase in positions 1-12 and no Chase drivers will start the race in positions in 13-43.
4. Points will be awarded 12 points for a win, 11 points for second, and so forth with the 12th place Chase driver getting 1 point. This will insure a tight points battle to the last race.
Hope you enjoyed that one.
