NASCAR officials said they will investigate an incident between drivers #29-Kevin Harvick and #9-Kasey Kahne to determine if disciplinary action is needed. Kahne tried to pass Harvick on the last lap Sunday as the two cars bumped. When the race ended, Harvick pulled in front of Kahne's car and blocked it before walking over to confront Kahne. Harvick, though, was restrained by crew members. "Kahne started running into me after a caution, so I wanted to stop and ask him what the problem was," Harvick said. "Before that, I got to him a little bit, so I guess he was ticked off. But we were just racing hard."(Dallas Morning News

I didn't see any punches thrown, heard no foul words and not even an obscene jester tossed out!! What's the problem? There is a limit that the guys can go up to isn't there? I vote for no penalty......no fine, no nothing!! Harvick and Kahne can and should take care of it between themselves......seems that is what they were doing.

Well, the problem is, they did it ON the track; Pit Road, I believe. That puts it in NASCAR's ball park. Soooooooooooooo, although no blows were tossed, and no "apparent" "foul" language was used(?), NASCAR considers the PLACE to be in their domain. Jester and all.

When 1 driver hits anothers car on pit road, and I do think running him into the water barrels qualifies. :D
You're right they should just handle it between themselves BUT by running into Kaseys car on pit road that inviloves NASCAR. They did fine Rusty. Kevin should have learned something when he run into the side of Rudds on pit road.

Oh yeah, that family sport thing. :) Gets pretty bad when that family sport thing has to break the spirit of the participants. No harm, no foul. Let it go. Emotions run high during and immediately after a race........if it didn't then the sport would not be what it is.

And that's exactly what Kasey said. "Just the adreniline thing after a long race."

I'm not really sure what happened. The racing look pretty clean.I thought Kasey was going to get him but Harvic beat him to the line. I didn't see how Harvick got back around him. I'd have to agree with DE, unless there was somthing there I didn't see.

I guess I missed that part. I saw Kevin's car blocking Kasey's with Kasey next to the inside wall on pit road........I'm pretty sure the cars were not together though. Kasey drove off as Kevin walked away.

Yeah, come to think of it, it was an ugly scene.......lets suspend them for the remainder of the season. Got to crack down on those hellions that are coming into this sport.

Kevin Harvick wedged Kasey's car up against the outside wall on pit road. Not that big of a deal, UNTIL Kevin got out of his car. That conversation could have, and SHOULD have taken place at another location. JMHO

what happened at phoenix wasnt really that bad, but you have to draw the line somewhere or the drivers will keep trying to get away with more and more. besides, even if no blows were thrown and there was no offensive language (at least that we could hear) there was no reason for harvick to throw his tantrum on pit road, on national tv, in front of the fans. he could have easily waited until him and kahne were off the track to talk to him.

i know we are all adults here and could care less what we see on tv. but as far a children watching, i would rather my son or daughter see junior dropping the s-bomb that a driver losing his cool with another driver.

I know NASCAR is a family sport and all, but if parents take offense to a driver showing emotion after a race because their children is watching, then I think it's time to turn it back to Barney or Blues Clues. Drivers showing emotion has been a part of the sport since it originated, and nothing will EVER change that.

JMO.

Cut Harvick some slack...I'm sure he's just upset over Gordon leaving RCR.

Thats because Harvik knew he was wrong, and was trying to play it off.

I don't think Kevin needs to play anything off...

The only thing I think he did wrong was get out of his car on pit road. Again, he could have had the discussion with Kasey back in the garage area where it should have been, and not create the ruckus out on pit road. ;)

According to Nascar.com. Baldwin came over to Harvick's car. As Nascar Officals tried to keep him away from Harvicks car. Harvick and Kahne made admends and drove off. I would the only one really upset was Baldwin. :)

Exactly. Rusty and Ryan did not use foul language, or get into a physical altercation. The fine should be the same.

I guess I was seeing things on Sunday. If so, then please explain to me WHO was in the Goodwrench firesuit with helmet and hans device on talking to Kasey sitting in his car on pit road???????
I didn't see it. I am just going by what it said on Nascar.com. It didn;t say that he got out of his car. He could have. But it looks like they reached an agreement while they were talking :D

He was out and talking to Kahne. Several crew members came over. Eventually some NASCAR officials came over. It really looked like a non-issue on TV. Harvick was not displaying angry motions and there was no mic to pick up any sound. Neither car looked like they had hit anything. It looked more like Harvick had blocked Kahne from entering.

I wonder if Kahne, knowing of Harvicks rep with the likes of Biffle and such, was about to crap his pants when he saw Harvick heading his way. The boy seems a little high strung on a good day.

:lurk:

And I doubt harvick's presence would instill fear in much of anyone over 5' 2, 150 pounds. But I could be wrong.

Ain't that the truth.

Why in hell are all these pit guys getting involved in other people's tilts anyway? Christ, haven't they ever heard of a fair fight.

I've got a feelin' that Kahne's a biter/scratcher and Harvick's a kicker/hair puller.
