No points… no championship… just pure bragging rights! Best of the best from series like Camping World East and West, Whelen Modified, and Canadian Tire.

Just a heads up for those of you that are interested. This is usually a pretty good event.

Fri Jan 28 @ 11:00pm ET on SPEED - Qualifying

Sat Jan 29 @ 10:00pm ET on SPEED - Race

Thanks for the reminder. Should hopefully be some good racing.

I love watching this race every year its always a good one. I like watching the super late models and pro late models race to. Hopefully Rip Michaels has some competition this year in the supers.

OK i guess i miss spoke...Where the hell was Rip Michaels? lol did he sell out and quit racing? Just checked his website and it still has a 2009 schedule on it. I remember him running in this race last year for the super late models.

From SPEED.

Sergio Pena offered up a big surprise at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Friday as he out-ran several Sprint Cup drivers and captured the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown.

In his first competition in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series race car, the 16-year-old Pena captured the 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented by Coors Light for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown with a fast lap of 18.390 seconds (97.879 mph) during qualifying Friday evening.

Pena, a member of the Drive for Diversity initiative, earned his way into the event by competing in a qualifying race among his three teammates at Revolution Racing in similarly prepared cars from one of Toyota Speedway’s entry divisions on Thursday evening. A run-away win in that run-off allowed Pena a shot at competing on Friday.

Pena’s pole run bested that of 2007 event-winner and Cup Series driver Joey Logano. Logano qualified second at 18.421 (97.715).

The second row for Saturday night’s 225-lap NASCAR K&N Pro Series race will consist of Greg Pursley (18.475 seconds/97.429 mph) and Eric Holmes (18.498/97.308). Sean Caisse was the fifth-fastest qualifier (18.520/97.192).

Jeff Barkshire filled out the third row and the fourth row will consist of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver David Gilliland and Josh Combs.

The two fastest in afternoon practice, Jason Bowles qualified 10th and Ryan Truex ninth. Defending winner of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown Matt Kobyluck qualified 14th.

Friday night’s action at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale concluded with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series last-chance “Open” race to determine the final six starting positions for Saturday’s feature. Michael Self came away victorious while Justin Philpott earned the final slot.

In the Super Late Model portion of the 2010 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown earlier in the evening, multi-time track champion at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale Rip Michels once again returned to Victory Lane. Michels was challenged mid-race by Alex Haase and Travis Thirkettle, but the two were involved in the same accident on Lap 60. Michels eventually had to hold off Gilliland during a green-white-checker finish to earn the victory.

It was the first All-Star Showdown victory for Michels, a three-time track champion at Irwindale. Michels has twice been runner-up in NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown races: 2004 in the Elite Division and 2007 in the Super Late Model Division.

That was last years. Pena didn't qualify that good last night. And he is driving the 07 car this year.

You know if I were the guy in 2nd there at the end of the late model race I would have just bonzied 3 and 4. At least take a shot.

ZOMG SHUT THE **** UP RICK ALLEN!!!

Travis Pastrana made it through the wreck. We get it you've only ****ING told us 99 times

Ok now I'm less willing to give them excuses for wrecking

Atleast Pastrana is at a race pace and not crawling like danica was. But yeah i am tired of hearing his name. Oh yeah and how the hell has Steve Wallace not crashed yet?

I'm glad no ones brought out a caution in the 2nd segment or I'd be up until 3

And because I'm awake watching this I have to deal with the drunk/high people coming in looking for my roommate. I'm not his mom why would I know where he is:confused:

Thorn did not have to dump Harraka like that:mad:

Thorn "he came down on me"...WTF you went up 3 lanes

penalty for Thorn but your right wrecks aren't done

You know you may think they said his name too much but Pastrana 6th his first time out and impressive last couple laps running 3 wide.:beerbang:

i don't care what anybody says travis pastrana is fun to watch. if he can drive like that in nw nascar just might have it's next big star. not to mention the guy is just a great person to be around. unlike some of the stuck up, god's gift to racing stars that we have now.

Travis is awesome to watch. Unfortunately, he also is Auto Racing's ADHD poster child and probably won't stick around. I really hope he does stay...

Tried to watch the race, but before they reached lap 100, there were so many cautions that I gave up on it. Way past my bedtime. What time did the race finish EST?

I think about 2:20 am est.

Pastrana said he was mad cause Carmichael finished 5th his first time in the showdown, but i think Carmichael had way more seat time in circle track cars than Pastrana did before this race. Carmichael was running with Mark Martins late model team for a year before i believe.
