NASCAR video game news

Apparently, EA Sports isn't making video games for NASCAR anymore. :) (Makes me happy since they don't have a game for the Nintendo Wii or PC, but I use rFactor anyways)

From what I've heard, The Sim Factory, who produced the wildly popular ARCA Sim Racing video game, has been tapped by NASCAR to make a computer video game. Not sure who will produce the PS3,XBOX360,Wii games.

I would like to see Take 2/2K Sports get the license.

I like RFactor. I've got a ton of mods on it. NASCAR 2009, IndyCar Series 2009, Formula 1, Grand-Am, ASA Late Model Series, NASCAR Truck Series, Modifieds, Dirt late models:growl:, GT, etc.

Game costs $30 but if you know what you're doing, you can download the demo and crack it so you don't have to buy it. Once you have that done, you can download an effton of mods for it from rfactorcentral.com. ;)

I've got all the NASCAR Cup/Busch/Truck tracks. I've also got: Portland, Myrtle Beach, Bowman-Gray Stadium, Hickory, Rockingham 2008, Road America, Streets of Houston, all the IRL tracks, Singapore F1 under the lights:growl:, and a bunch of dirt tracks (Hagerstown, Lernerville, Williams Grove, Eldora, I-80, Bristol on DIRT:growl::growl::growl:, etc.)

It also works on a lot of lower end machines as well.

I can understand why EA dropped the NASCAR license, from their perspective. I personally find them to be the most lazy sports game developer though.

Get me all Cup, Nationwide, and CWTS tracks, and drivers who competed that year, as well as their developmental drivers. I want all paint schemes, plus loads of downloadable content. I want 4-8 player offline capability and 43 multiplayer online to fill an entire field. Throw in the East/West series in a career mode.

NASCAR 2009 was CRAP.

No multiplayer capability offline, very few cars and tracks. EA hasn't produced a decent NASCAR sim since the 2005 game. Honestly, the last great NASCAR video game was "Dirt to Daytona" which came out in 2001 or 2002. They had dirt tracks, modifieds:growl:, trucks and Spitcup.

NASCAR SimRacing, which you can find at Wal-Mart or something for, ****, $5, is a decent game. VERY EASY to mod. Not enough road courses for it though.

NR2003 has the most mods for it but I can't find the game anywhere.

ARCA SimRacing is more of an online deal, the built in AI is crappy.

Ideally, the best setup would be Epic Games(who do Gears of War) being the developer, since they can use the Unreal Engine to just mind blowing degrees.

Until someone like Sierra makes another game like NASCAR 2003...... count me out. Sorry, that is the best game out there, hands down bar none..... and if ya can get your hands on teh project wildfire mods........ coooool. and the ability to paint your own car.... man I have had some sweet rides, if I do say so......lol.

and Andy..... check ebay...... there are usually several copies there..... it's the only way ya can get it, since Sierra nuked all their bridges with NASCAR years ago......

Sierra was the best at the NASCAR sims with NR2k3 thats why that game was and still is around so much. The reason they quit was because EA got the stupid license and thought that their sim racing game was gonna be great and it sucked everybody kept with nr2k3.

I hadnt tried the ARCA game but i had heard it was just a glorified rFactor mod whether there is any truth to that or not i dont know.

The EA games sucked. They weren't sims, just glorified arcade games. Sierra/Papyrus games were the best. Still playing mine with COT cars and even some updated tracks.

You wouldn't happen to know where I can find some photoshop number templates that look like what Red Bull uses?

EA has gotten lazier and lazier every year they had the deal to the point that this year they did not even have the manufacturers at all in the game. Its time to give someone else a shot.

www.masgrafx.com they have a number set under downloads thats exactly what redbull uses.

go to downloads then paintshop then number sets and its located there i believe

This is old news. It was announced way back in March that there would be no new NASCAR game released in 2009 other than EA's "NASCAR Kart Racing" on the Wii.

It's also been known for a while that EA no longer has an exclusive license to make NASCAR games (which they've had since 2003 I think). Proof of this can be found in that NASCAR cars, tracks, and drivers will be featured in Gran Turismo 5. There's also an online racing sim at iracing.com that announced they will be launching a fully licensed NASCAR sim in early 2010.

EA hasn't made any official announcement regarding any new NASCAR releases. They can still make a NASCAR game, but they wont be the only one doing so.

I don't think this would be a good idea. Technically, the Unreal Engine could be adapted for a racing game, but that's not what it's designed for. That's like asking a NASCAR driver to pilot the space shuttle.

A better choice would be the Codemasters engine that's behind the Dirt, Grid, and F1 games they make. This engine provides incredable visual detail, damage modeling, and realistic sim quality controls.

I wouldnt mind codemasters or simbin or 10tacle making a nascar game...

I wouldn't mind Codemasters. They've been making racing games for long enough that they know what works. They've made everything from arcade racers to pure sims.

Simbin I'm not to sure about. Granted, they've made several popular PC sims, but they aren't well known outside of Europe. Their first console game, Race Pro, was terrible.

I have to look into the iracing nascar sim that will be a good one. I believe the head developer at iracing was on the team that developed nr2k3 for sierra.
