Well those who hate the NNS series, might be happy that Nascar is pricing themselves out of a series in the next few years...

  • NASCAR sets criteria for Series sponsorship: NASCAR is asking $12 million to $15 million a year for title sponsorship of its secondary series, which has been held by Nationwide Insurance since 2008. NASCARs asking price is a minimum 20 percent increase above the $10 million in rights fees that Nationwide now pays. The insurer is dropping the title sponsorship after the 2014 season. In addition to the rights fee, NASCAR executives are telling potential buyers they want a 10-year deal that includes a media commitment of more than $10 million and an activation commitment of more than $10 million, putting the overall annual spend at more than $30 million a year. NASCAR officials declined to comment on pricing.
NASCAR plans to approach some of the brands that looked at the title sponsorship of the Nationwide Series when it was last available in 2007. Dunkin Donuts, AutoZone, KFC and Subway all analyzed the opportunity. Subway was close to finalizing a deal but changed its mind after negotiations began. Brands in the technology, consumer packaged goods and retail categories are other obvious targets. In addition to working with two new network partners, a new sponsor also would bear much of the cost of rebranding the series.(Sports Business Daily)(11-20-2013)

NAPA, that'd be a good fit. Just read that their last quarterly report over the summer showed over $360 million in net profit at the half year mark. So a NASCAR sponsorship is clearly within their financial means.

I bet Brian read the same thing. I'm just sayin.

I think that or AutoZone would be the best fit for a racing series.. Dunkin Donuts? KFC? Subway? ...........really? LOL Somehow Im not sold on a racing series named after a fast food restaurant..

Well, I'm sure you meant someone read it to Brian.

The Sprint series gets around $75 million per year. I don't see how NW can be worth $30 million.

I sure hope somebody steps up on this deal. It would be a real shame to lose this series :(
Is Bernie Ecelstone secretly running Nascar

I still think NAPA should do it. The NAPA Grand National Series has a good ring to it.
If NAPA does decide to sponsor the series, I think Michael Waltrip should get back into the series and hire a top-notch driver. It'd be the awkward moment of the century if MWR won the NAPA Series Championship.

I'm guessing Nascar has a fairly accurate idea of what the market will bear since, you know, it's kinda their business to know this stuff.

do you not think for a minute the sponsorship price is negotiable?? umm yeah it is. any smart business would come in and always offer less. further the way nascar does the nationwide deal is they require the sponsor to spend a certain amount on TV ads during the races. So this makes the televison contract more lucrative to the network and the TV rights worth more to nascar. in a sense Nascar is getting the money back but at the same time gaining exposure with the series being on a major network. brilliant business move I might add!!!! so to say a company can come in and gain the rights to the series for $30 million isn't even beginning to tell the whole story. Its going to cost alot more than that. It also could be a really good deal for a business looking to promote themselves and are going to spend the money on advertising anyways. nascar has put the deal together very shrewdly

I thought they get free advertising time for being the sponsor?

Honestly, I don't see why anyone would want to sponsor the series for that much. Nationwide will probably end up earning a better return on a smaller investment in Stenhouse's Cup career.

Just imagine how many careers would be broken if the NW series suddenly shut down. If that happened I may need to boycott nascar besides secretly watching races under my bed hehehehehe

I read somewhere that Busch Beer was built from nothing to a contender entirely through the sponsorship of the series.

I vote to let NAPA buy all 3 series.

NAPA Gold Series
NAPA Silver Series
NAPA Bronze Series

I think Kyle should personally sponsor the series himself. The Nascar Kyle Busch series, Every trophy has a picture of Kyle on it. Every car is #54 and Samantha is the trophy girl.

He should because he is the finest driver to ever set foot in a Nationwide car.
