Here kitty, kitty, kitty
I read about the big one in California last night and how late that race was. But I didn't watch it because we were in Martinsville for the annual NASCAR Whelen Modified/NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified series 300 lapper. It was a great race and as one would expect, the Yanks won with their superior equipment, but unlike previous years, the southern boys held their own quite nicely with two of the two five and I believe three more in the top ten, making it five and five. Many of you have of course heard of Ted Christopher and he finished in second spot with an engine that was missing. He'd have probably lapped the field had his engine not been missing. Donny Lia, who won the pole held on to lead most of the race and won with Christopher right behind him at the end. There was one wreck that was similar in looks to what happened to Kesolowski in that one of the cars went up the wall between turns three and four and rode around the curve just like Brads car in the Busch series only no fire. They had to red flag the race so they could fix the wall and fense. If you've never witnessed those screaming mods before, I highly recommend see a race at least once. These open wheelers race side by side all the time and there is plenty of contact. And BTW, that race didn't get over until 12:30 a.m. or so. This is the only night race at that track and it works great. MUSCO does a great job of bringing in those lights and lighting up the track.
