It's funny looking at how these guys are viewed. People absolutely hate DW yet he's the fourth most liked.

Off that list I'd pick Bestwick, Jarrett, Petree, and Evernham. The rest could go away and I'd be fine with it.

My favorite team of all time was Bob Jenkins, Ned Jarrett, and Benny Parsons.

BP was the man! Mike Joy is a good announcer but I've always liked guys in the booth with on-track experience. Id have to pick BP, Larry Mac & Ray for my fantasy booth team.

I can't agree with Larry Mac being so high. The guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard IMO. On the flip side, I would put Wally Dallenbach much higher.

My crew would consist of Bill Weber, Michael Waltrip and Brad Daugherty..

I'm not surprised at all that DW has so many likes and dislikes - he's probably the most polarizing announcer we have right now, and the poll results reflect that. I'm also not surprised that Mikey is the most disliked. What I am surprised about, as @ToyYoda pointed out, is Wally not only being so low, but actually having more dislikes than likes. I'm also mildly surprised that Rusty is ranked that high. I would move him down and probably put Wally or Andy Petree in his spot.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I actually like DW, and Larry Mac even more so, to the point where I would even consider him to be one of my favorites. People can knock him all day long, but he knows his stuff. The fact that I've gotten so used to listening to his and DW's voices over the last 13 years helps too - you know, desensitization by repetition.

The only ones on that list that I would say I dislike are Adam Alexander and Rusty Wallace. My horror broadcast would be those two along with Vince Welch, with Kenny Wallace and Mikey in the booth acting goofy as hell. I think that three ring circus would be enough for me to mute the TV that week. LOL.

I agree with the first 3, after that it's all outta whack. I think Adam Alexander is in the right spot. I really don't care for him.

I wish Darrell Waltrip would look at that and figure he should stop all his trademark bull****. If he wasn't so obnoxious he is a hell of an announcer. The first couple years at FOX, I loved his insight.

Seems about right. I don't think Kyle Petty is anything special, but he's not nearly as annoying as some of the others. I'm surprised that he is disliked by so many.

joy ...petree....petty .......w/ color input from humpy. - n- buddy baker !

Hmm, I really like Brad Daugherty. Kyle Petty would be further down on my list, but everything else seems about right. Allen Bestwick's my favorite play-by-play guy; DW's my favorite color commentator.

He does put on a goofy good old boys act which is tiresome. Look at his interview of Mike Helton after Earnhardt was killed or his comments after McNabb said that NASCAR drivers weren't athletes for the "real" Darrell Waltrip. I want more of that guy. I don't know where he goes.

three of the ones i like (kyle, wally, and brad) seem pretty high on the "worst' list.

to be honest, the only announcer i ever despised was sam posey when he did the nascar races for abc. his personality just didn't seem to fit what nascar was back then.

Passed away in 2007.Sure miss him. One of the all time best.

I have never understood the DW hate yeah the guy can be cheesy but seriously if you can't see that the guy is genuine and a great guy off the camera I don't know what to tell ya. the other is kyle petty. I like that he speaks the truth I also like his insights. Not a fan of the pony tail and long hair other than that he is great.

I like Kyle Petty but DW is just a mouthpiece for NASCAR.

It seems fans don't like announcers that are company shills, and big on hype. What they do seem to like is people who are knowledgeable, and say what they really think.

I think being a big fan is a necessity for the home announcer in any sport . Sports commentators who present the sport in a negative way don't last long . Don't get me wrong , I hate being talked down to by any sports commentator , but DW , Mikey , Kyle and the rest are just trying to do their jobs . Its too bad that when we don't like them personally , we tend to call them idiots . I do that myself when I hear Rusty speak , but I know he has plenty of experience to back up what he says .

DW was good in the movie "Cars" but thats where he belongs sometimes. In a cartoon. Other times he imparts some racing wisdom, its kind of like a crap shoot.

So DW's racing wisdom, who has 84 wins, 3 championships and has spent a lifetime in the sport is merely a crapshoot? Interesting.

DW was made for television. He is one of the all-time greats in the sport and he was given the famous nickname "Jaws" because he loved to talk. He's always been known for his personality - the ickey shuffle in the winner's circle after winning the Daytona 500? That's great stuff.

The bottom line is that DW has a ton of personality and I think he's entertaining - even if he says something about your favorite driver that you don't like.

As much as I like Dale Jarrett from his racing days......ESPN has the blandest coverage out of them all. I'm surprised Allen Bestwick is so liked. I don't know what he brings to the table. Even TNT has more entertaining coverage. Kyle Petty - while opinionated (and that can rub some people the wrong way) - him and Wally Dallenbach actually inject some personality as well.

You get the sense that Mike Joy, DW and Larry McReynolds (and even Hammond) really are great friends, even when they turn the cameras off. This is the same broadcasting teams since FOX first started in 2001. That's pretty cool. I feel that camradery as a viewer.

I think fans are just too touchy about what the commentators say about their favorite drivers (or the drivers they hate). At the end of the day, honestly I don't really care THAT much - it's all about the racing.

I am so surprised that the Waltrips are working this weekend since they are supposedly grieving the loss of their brother.

The Godfather, Dave Moody.

I see the mouths moving on TV but I am listening to Sirius radio.
