So much for keeping things quiet.....

NASCAR chairman Brian France has sued his former wife, accusing her of tape recording telephone conversations to extort money from him.

In a lawsuit filed Friday, Brian France claims his ex-wife, Megan France, has recorded multiple telephone conversations with him without his consent. He is asking a federal judge to issue an injunction barring Megan France from engaging in additional “intercepts of wire communications” between the two and of distributing the contents of the recordings.

Brian and Megan France have been married and divorced twice, Brian France noted in his lawsuit. Their second divorce was finalized on April 29, 2008.

Since their second divorce, France says he and his ex-wife have continued to have regular discussions over financial and custodial affairs – particularly about their two minor children

“Throughout this time, on information and belief, defendant has engaged in a pattern and practice of illegally tape recording conversations with plaintiff, without his knowledge or consent, for the purpose of extorting money and other concessions from plaintiff,” the lawsuit alleges.

“Defendant has threatened to disclose these illegal recordings to third parties and thereby damage Mr. France in his personal capacity as well as in his professional capacity as Chairman and CEO of NASCAR.”

Brian France alleges his ex-wife has offered not to disclose the records – keeping them private – if he pays her “substantial sums of money.”

Just goes to show how STUPID all the Frances are...When you have as much money as they do, the first rule of life is to only speak as if you are being RECORDED....They never taught this clown that simple rule, and now it's going to bite him big time....A lack of a quality education combined with excessive alcohol breeds STUPIDITY......:dunce:

Depends on the state, there's different regs. I can record any phone conversation I want here in RI. The reg says only one party has to be informed. Guess that means if I'm recording your call and turn on the recorder it's ok. Other states both parties have to agree, unless there's a court order.

Going to LMAO when we find out he's the meth head..

btw, who would marry their ex-wife again?? Must be a southern thang, us Yankees don't do that.

Florida requires the consent of BOTH parties...North Carolina only requires the consent of (1) party....As long as there is no recording of her voice actually trying to extort monies, that would be hersay evidence. None the less, it would be more damaging for the public to hear BRIANS voice in an illegal/deflamatory conversation...The penalty for the phone taping is minimal if NO extortion is evident....

possibly...i had an aunt (ms) and uncle (mo) that married each other four times. these weren't just restating their vows either. they did the divorce, then remarried.
