NASCAR's price for Busch Series sponsorship falling

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NASCAR's once-promising negotiations with Subway to title sponsor its No. 2 series have hit the skids, sources say, and the sanctioning body has spent the last few weeks revisiting many of the brands that initially turned down the sponsorship. KFC, Dunkin' Donuts and Allstate, each of which had been contenders for the sponsorship earlier in the process, are among the companies NASCAR has approached in the last few weeks as its tries to replace Anheuser-Busch. A-B sponsored the Busch Series for 25 years before deciding to make this its final season. Subway, which was considered the front-runner 30 to 60 days ago, remains in talks with NASCAR, but industry insiders no longer characterize America's largest restaurant chain as the favorite. As NASCAR seeks a new title sponsor, industry insiders say the price is dropping. NASCAR was asking $30 million a year when it began the sales process in the first quarter of the year, but that figure has dropped by nearly half. -- Sports Business Journal

I'm not surprised by the drop in price. The series has nothing to offer except for the Cup guys dominating the shows.

Bingo. NASCAR's letting Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick run in Busch has destroyed the series.

The series has become a joke! 145 different drivers this year and only 11 drivers have raced all 26 races this year.

Hmmm, some of y'all that kept up with the numbers, how much did R-F raise to keep the doors open? If we put on an extra push maybe? just maybe?
Someone crunch the numbers and give Brian a call with our offer...

They should make it a different series altogether with them running the "old style cars" only and with COT only being run in the Cup side.

I can come with $5.25 just in the bottom of my purse.

I still say AT&T ought to sponsor the series. hehehe

well if they're at the 15 mil bracket for busch title, consider that a cup car is 15-20 million per year.

I agree with TRL....

"Don't miss an action packed weekend as starts of the AT&T Series and the Sprint Cup come to Dovor Downs....."

Maybe bring back Grand National in the name. Hmm, if Winston wanted to could they be the title sponsor of the Series?

NOPE Winston isn't allowed to advertise in the series that is why they left. No tobacco on tv whether race car or whatever.

That's what i thought.......dang pc stuff. Yeah we don't need kids to smoke, but what really makes Alky any diff? Wiskey is a lot worse then a smoke.

Is it all tobacco? or can snuff, dip, chew advertise? Copenhagen can sponsor it and call it the Spit Cup!
