NASCAR National Series Clinch Scenarios Set For Homestead: #2-Brad Keselowski leads five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion #48-Jimmie Johnson by 20 points going into Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Keselowski clinches his first NASCAR Sprint Cup championship with a finish of 15th or better; or 16th and at least one lap led; or 17th and the most laps led, even if Johnson wins and leads the most laps. All other drivers have been eliminated from championship consideration.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who leads by 20 points over second-place Elliott Sadler, will clinch the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver championship with a finish of 16th or better; or 17th or better with at least one lap led; or 18th or better with most laps led at Homestead. In the owners championship battle, the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota guarantees a clinch of the title with a finish of 28th or better; or 29th or better with at least one lap led; or 30th or better with the most laps led. The #18 currently leads the #6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford by 33 points.

James Buescher has an 11-point lead over Timothy Peters heading into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series finale. Buescher guarantees himself his first championship with a finish of 7th or better with no laps led; or 8th or better with one lap led; or 9th or better with the most laps led. The clinch scenarios for the NCWTS owners championship is the same, with Buescher's points-leading #31 leading Peters' #17 by 11 points.

Wait, so the way the points lead in the Cup and Nationwide is the same, but the way to clinch isn't? Don't they have the same damn points system? They seem to be a few little errors here, The way for Brad also, so if Brad leads the most post and finishes 17th he is champion even if Johnson leads the most laps, so they both lead the most? Oh well lol. Should be a fun weekend.

"or 17th and the most laps led, even if Johnson wins and leads the most laps."

That's a tricky one.

I guess the laps will only be split between them too. :XXROFL:all the first half of the race Brad leads then drops back to 17th, and then Johnson leads the rest of the race and wins and Brad is champion, be a hell of a end to the points probably thought.

LOL, it is very poor sentence structure by Jayski or whoever wrote that sentence. What I think they meant to say is that if Brad K meets any of the three criteria, he will clinch even if Jimmie leads the most laps. Unfortunately, they have that statement about Johnson after the "17th or better with most laps led" scenario so it just comes off as incredibly awkward.
