NASCRAP BRASS Cancel 2 Interviews @ Chicago

The stock car governing body issued a statement early Thursday following published reports of alleged collaboration between teams for drivers Joey Logano (Penske) and David Gillard (Front Row Motor Sports) that allowed Logano a better finish at Richmond to lock down a berth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
They don't really follow NASCAR too strongly up there, do they...

Condensed version in bold
Top NASCAR officials have been unavailable for comment since Richmond fallout grew.
A tentatively scheduled Tribune interview about the Chase for the Sprint Cup with NASCAR CEO Brian France was canceled.
A scheduled Thursday talk on an unrelated Sprint Cup subject with Steve Phelps, NASCAR's chief marketing officer, was also canceled after Phelps asked that questions be submitted in advance.
The Tribune declined and a NASCAR spokesperson then said the interview could not take place due to changes in Phelps' schedule

yeah you have to pick thru the bigot parts to get to the message. usually there is nothing there but bigot. I took a flying guess this morning on another thread..stick your heads in the sand. Penske is part owner in the franchise, stockholder, so what are they going to do, the right thing? Penske probably has a bushel basket of dirt on them along with a big financial interest in Nascar. Penske has more money in his back pocket than Melrose moffycrap. So you can take a guess who is the uneducated drunk redneck.

The big events I have penciled in are sundays race, qualifying, and practice. The rest is just BS imo, who cares who's doing interviews or not.
they are running from the press, trying to get the race in so the B.S.last race controversy goes away. They can't explain why the 22 got a free ride when MWR got the axe. and that is if MWR gets the axe. I doubt they have to pay the 300,000.

penske is part owner in isc.......tracks.......not gov body=nascar.

tho he does hold a big sway.

da Nascar=ISC da Penske is da second largest stockholder in da ISC

Incorrect there SOI.

From Wikipedia:

Although ISC is controlled by the France family, it is separate from NASCAR.

This came up when Kentucky Speedway sued ISC and NASCAR, claiming it was a trust and monopoly because NASCAR was giving races to tracks it owned. Courts ruled that ISC and NASCAR are separate companies. We all know they work close together, no doubt about that but I don't know if Roger has ownership stake in NASCAR itself.

Kentucky Speedway filed suit July 13 against NASCAR and ISC, both of which are controlled by the France family, alleging the companies have violated federal antitrust laws by illegally restricting the awarding of Nextel Cup races.

Here ya go..this is why it was dismissed
The panel said the group failed to prove NASCAR and International Speedway Corp., worked together with other tracks to keep the 1.5-mile tri-oval from getting a coveted Sprint Cup race.

What does "work together" imply? Maybe that they're separate companies?

we can go on with the chicken or the egg came first all night. Every one of these companies are owned by Roger Penske, BUT they are all separate companies. BTW this isn't listing all his other stuff world wide in Europe and South America. They could be different in this case, but if you are #2 stockholder in ISC, you got some wheelbase in both companies irregardless if they are separate or not IMO.
Penske's subsidiaries include:
Penske Racing (high-performance racing)
Companies in which Penske Corporation owns a stake and performs a controlling role:

No, you're right and I apologize for dragging us down in the minutia. Penske obviously has gravitas and a say in a lot of things. I still blame him for the Chase. When Kenseth won the championship in 2003 after only winning one race, I remember Penske was in the news bitching about how Ryan Newman had won 8 races and was never in contention for the championship. So, he obviously has the ear of the Frances, I just don't think he has any direct ownership in NASCAR itself. I think the actual NASCAR legal entity is wholly owned by the Frances.

yep I believe he got that done..he has a lot of pull being the second highest stockholder in ISC. And I think that is why nothing is happening to the 22. Sucks and I am not a hell bent Gordon fan, could be anybody in Gordon's position, fair is fair

yeah well dawg I guess you don't think Penske was instrumental in bringing about the chase..to the governing body? of Nascar..just who the hell is the governing body of Nascar Einstein Dawg? Name em for me will ya I guess I am confused. Thought it would probably be people who had invested money in the organization..What you think it is the fans who are the "governing body"? Step in that slick.

have no idea who came up w/ chase ???
i do know tha gov body a' nascar only comes from tha france/kennedy family tho.......
..........who own all tha stock bill jr left to 'em.

Very simply , the Logano deal is nothing . Not even worth a comment by Nascar . The only thing that makes it newsworthy is the amount over overreaction by Nascar on the Truex event . Nascar needs to sit down and shut up . Stop calling attention to themselves .

What's with the abusive bigoted language? You can make your point without being a bigot.

The longer Nascar delays making a decision it seems more incriminating of Penske, that they made a deal of sorts.
