Nationwide at Chicagoland

The pool room in Dawsonville GA is on the ball.

LOL Love it.

This kid is only 18. Finally, I am back to being a hard core nascar fan with interest. Larson, Elliott, Erik Jones and others are the future of the sport imo. Its only a matter of time before they are all in cup cars even though Larson is already in one. Rick Hendrick has to find a way to get Elliott in a cup car. He is no dummy and will in time. Chase Elliott is the real deal and is going to be hard to handle in the future.

What about Penske, he has two hot shoes already and Blaney is chomping at the bit to move up. He will probably win the trucks even with a truck that is not that great. The toyota's have the speed. Yeah they have some quick youngsters

Good point,

I think Chase will stay with Hendricks. Penske is very competitive and the Gibbs yotas are strong but Hendricks is where you want to be imo. Everything can change. Blaney may be a wreck waiting to happen. Did a good job tonight but he scares me. He is a wreck waiting to happen imo. Elliott is much more measured imo on how he drives but I am biased. He is so much like his Dad only more agressive imo which is better.

Chase Elliott is not Bill Elliott but he sure is fun to watch for me and impressive as can be.

Blaney has ran 7 n'wides and has 6 top tens, for a better average finish then Elliott, I don't get the wreck waiting to happen.
Why do you always feel the need to **** in every thread just to be the lone dissenting voice no matter the topic?

It's always you. Go away, troll.

So you think Blaney is a wreck waiting to happen? what's your point? If there is a dissenting hysterical voice, I think it be yours. In fact Elliott fan agreed that I had a good point. we were discussing the new blood in racing and nobody was flipping out. Chill out dude.

Just imagine how much better that race would've been with Kyle or Keselowski 5 seconds ahead of the pack. Yes, that's sarcasm. It was a great race. We saw a lot of future Cup A list talent on display. Exactly what the Nationwide series is supposed to be.

I use the Klingon mind lock when that happens..I ignore it, maybe it will go away. I wish the cameras would too, keep the focus on the full time N'wide guys

Races like last night are the best argument for limiting Cup guys in Nationwide.

Im torn on this. I think the best win Elliott has this year is Darlington due to the nature of the track for one and two beating Kyle Busch and Matt Kentheth along with Elliot Sadler who used to be a cup regular. Thats some stiff competition like them or not. Its hard to win any race but when you can beat a solid cup regular at this level its got to raise some eyebrows. Thanks goodness we picked up some points last night. I have felt like other than breaking a part I think at Charlotte The 9 team has just thrown a bunch out the window with running out of gas ect....

Restrictor plate tracks have just killed this team also. They are such a wild card anyway.

When I was going to the sprint car races almost every Saturday night, the track would have feature races every so often , and out of state drivers would show up because of the higher prize money. I thought it was pretty cool they showed up. None of them dominated like Kyle Busch has so i don't know if I would be a hater or not. This year, like Elliott Fan says, he hasn't had such an easy time of it, there are some full time drivers in Nationwide that can give him a race for his money. He's run 14 N'wides and only has three wins. Trucks is a different story, but from what I hear, he is supposed to turn more truck driving over to Jones now that he is old enough to run the bigger tracks.

I think there's something to be said for learning how to run up front and battle for a win. It's difficult to get experience with Busch and Keselowski coming out and blowing away everyone. Racing as a leader is a skill in and of itself.

lot of points lost because cup drivers winning in Nationwide. and that could lead to having a Nationwide driver winning the championship without having a win. (i know) but really 4 points over 2nd place, plus 1 point for leading most laps, which the buschwackers usually do. at least they're not getting screwed out of their Dash 4 Cash money.

Logano and Keselowski screwed Hornish out of a Champioinship last year. He lost the championship by only 3 points and finished second to them in races about 5 times. It's a shame because they were his teammates and not even running for the championship.

Hornish screwed himself out of the championship, screwed himself out of cup with a dismal performance. Now he is a part timer running in Nationwide and he is screwing full timers out of wins. He is a full circle screwer I guess.

He had more wins top 5s and top 10s then Austin Dillon. Not sure how he screwed himself out of a championship. He's also been the best nationwide regular when he's raced this year. Gibbs needs to give him a full time ride next year

I think he ought to try his luck in open wheel. He isn't any good in a cup car. He won three championships in indycar, in cup he hasn't even won a race

Some people's Cornflakes are more urine soaked than others.

Personally I like Standonit's posts, I appreciate his candour and while I don't always agree with them, I agree with that one. Blaney is anything but a wreck waiting to happen, I'd say he's a future star waiting to break out.

You were talking on the other thread about Stenhouse, I didn't want to spin the thread, but over here what the heck. Our man Jeb Burton is not doing that well in the trucks and isn't getting any opportunities to race in Nationwide it looks like. The team he is driving for Thorson (Thorsport) doesn't build junk, has drivers in first and third, and Burton is a distant 11th. 36 races in the trucks with one win. So far I thought he would be doing a heck of a lot better than that. Might be too soon to tell but in my opinion he is performing pretty Stenhousey. What say you?

To be honest I haven't watched any Truck races this year, so I can't comment on his total performance. Has he been the victim of cautions or wrecks not of his doing? Has he shown speed and not capitalized? Sometimes the points dont show the whole picture, but i haven't seen the whole picture to accurately comment.

All I know about him is he impressed the HECK out of me last year and he comes from a good racing family, so I'd give him some more time to show what he can do. Thor is a great Truck organization but perhaps he's getting the leftovers over there? Was he with Turner last year?

that's kinda why I said he was Stenhousey. He showed promise last year, a win and 5 top 5's, he was driving for turner Scott, but nothing this year so far only 2 top tens in 9 races.

I still believe Jeb has some untapped potential, he just might not get the chance to showcase it properly.

Look at James Buescher, he won a bunch of Truck races including the title and it didn't land him the most desirable NW ride. Now he's stuck trying to prove himself in at best middling equipment trying to compete with other much stronger teams. So unfortunately I'm not surprised that Jeb's having a tough time attracting better opportunities. All I'm saying is if I was an owner, I would definitely look at him as an option for my driver. He's young enough to continue to improve and evolve as a driver IMO.
