When will ESPN realize that they need a real NASCAR play-by-play guy to improve their broadcasts? Hopefully for those of us who love the NASCAR Camping World Truck series that day will never come! Saturday evening at Darlington Raceway we got to see why Rick Allen might be the best announcer in the business right now. (Or a photo finish for best with Mike Joy at Fox) The racing is great every week in the truck series and the Speed Channel coverage is always outstanding too. There are fewer gimmicks on the broadcasts in the truck series too. Keep up the great work Mr. Allen…there is no doubt you are the best in the business!.......

Who needs all the bells, whistles and extra people we see every week on Cup broadcasts, Speed Channel proves all you need is a good crew and fantastic camera work to produce a great broadcast. Maybe the crew at ESPN can learn from the folks at Speed who cover a race like the old ESPN crew used to do back in the day. My apologies to Mike Joy, but Rick Allen might be the best in the business at play-by-play right now.<<

He reminds me of the AM radio DJ in Hotrod.....

There's gotta be better PxP talent somewhere out there... We literally have like 3 or 4 guys and half of them aren't worth a ****.

I like it . No more same old , same old . NBC wasn't going to be the best by using the same guys in the booth . That would have been easier , but , the best they could do was tie. Good for them .

Rick Allen is solid in the booth - IMO, he's the next best thing behind Mike Joy and Allen Bestwick. I'm not quite sure why some of you here are against it. Would anyone care to enlighten me?

I agree and have wondered the same thing myself.

Seriously, this is a NASCAR forum. Have you ever seen everyone agree on anything?

NBCSN getting younger, more relevant people. Rick Allen's 44 and Jeff Burton's 46. I mean this with no disrespect but it's a much younger crew than the 50+ and 60+ crowd over on Fox and ESPN.

He gets excited and starts yelling. I like it but a lot of people don't like it I guess.

ok then, will see what he is all about. Bob Jenkins was the best back in the day. IMO

I like it, he brings emotion to the booth. He gets you excited about what's happening on the track. Good move
