NBCSN to broadcast 2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series and Whelen Modified Tour Races

Glad K&N and the Mods are getting more airtime this year.

Only highlights for New Jersey? Shame, that was a damn good race last year.

Looks like we get to see among others Hailie Deegan race a bit in the 19 car

I'm a little concerned about how fast they moved her up. They probably should have put her in some Late Model Stock Car races and more Super Late Model races and then maybe put her in a K&N car towards the end of the season.

The girl is talented though. She looked smooth when I saw her race at Southern National last summer.

I concur with the Professor

I'm a fan of the Whelen Modifieds. I wonder what the deathbedders say about these events getting air time?

Excellent news. I will make a point of watching the Whelan Modified races, have always enjoyed the few televised races in the past.

This is nothing new... They have been getting the majority of the modified tour races aired on TV in recent years!
Good to see that it continues though.
Pinty's Series has coverage on Mavtv. Would be nice to see the Euro Series and Mexico series getting some USA coverage.

Whelen Mod tour starts here at Thompson Saturday and Sunday, snow tomorrow and Saturday so qualifying and support series will be a challenge. Go figure last weekend it was beautiful, low 60s, right now it's 29. We just can't by a break with the weather here this spring.

37 cars on the entry list....craziness! Valenti series has a good field too! I was considering going to this but cold+snow=better skiing weather in Vermont than racing weather in CT so that's where I'm going.

I might come down just for Sunday but $55 is really tough to swallow for one day. I'd be more enticed if Saturday is a snow-out and everything gets ran on Sunday...that'd be a lonnnggggg day though.

Hopefully they just postpone it to next weekend. The Icebreaker and World Series are known for getting a big crowd even in tough weather but temperatures in the 30s both days with snow and cloud cover is just ridiculous

World series is awesome, one of my favorite weekends, yeh $55 is steep for one day, but these Mod guys need higher purses. I was thinking about going, but my bowling team is still in contention for first place on Sunday plus weather being cold, I'm going to skip it. Sizzler this year looks like a good bet tho. So I hear the Speedbowl applied for Nascar sanctioning again, what are the chances they get it back?

me neither, and I didn't want to know until I watched the race, I have had terrible luck with the Fans choice TV site..it continues.

Mods at Seekonk,
The track is too small [1/4 mile*]for a decent mod race.

When built it was advertised as 1/4 mile, then it went nascrap and nascrap measures track length 6 feet off the outside wall, lo and behold the track grew into a 1/3 mile track! Also licenses, pit passes and general admission also grew.

Seekonk is way too small for mods. Tri-track race has had some hits and some misses the past several years.

I don't know anything about the Speedbowl. I don't hold rumors any merit.

My speculation is that NASCAR wants to stay away until a new owner (not lease) is in place.

I think this is why I don't enjoy the Modified races down here. Our tracks are 3/8-mile or 4/10-mile with little to no banking, with the exception of Southern National. The Tour put on a great show at Langley last year. I'd love to see Southern National back on the schedule though because I think that'd be a good race. The Southern Modified series raced there last year and it was one of the better races of the year.

Found this regarding Waterford, apparently there's a lease in place and a 5 year plan with the town.

Waterford is 3/8 of a mile and the mods put on a good show there. Stafford is 1/2 mile and Thompson 5/8's mile more betterer.
Seekonk was built for midget racing, the cars not the little people. It's a groove and a half for the late models

Correct-ish. The 5-year plan was supposed to start this year with new grandstands. The town was not going to let them open this year with the old stands but apparently the town's previous building inspector retired and the new one gave the OK on the old stands as long as they make some minor repairs.

The lease is an interesting subject. George Whitney is leasing the track from the owner, Bruce Bemer, which no one wants to support in any means for obvious reasons. Some people believe the lease is legitimate and Whitney is putting his own money into running the track. Others believe Whitney is just the figurehead and Bemer is calling the shots.

The whole thing is a total mess and I've lost track/interest in the details because it's depressing. I will be there opening weekend to see cars on-track and that's all I want at this point and am trying to stay out of the politics of it. My take is that I'm not gonna let one person ruin the 68 years of the Speedbowl or let them take away my enjoyment of it...so I go and support the track. Many, including some in my own racing "family" refuse to go there and I totally understand their perspective.

Yeh it's a shame what happened, but that track puts on some good racing. Seekonk is basically a circle, no straights really, the Mods can't open it up even. Stafford, Thompson and even Monadnock put on great shows.
