NC State Wolfpack coach Sydney Lowe has resigned after five years on the job. During his tenure, the Wolfpack has failed to go to the big dance even though the previous five years they did. Syd probably was a bad choice to replace Herb Sendek, but fans were continually remembering the glory days of '83 when they won the NCAA tournament, and want to get back to those glory days...even though that year was just a blip on the screen of ACC basketball. Now I can't wait to see who they try to recruit for this job. One...no wait, two big problems for the Wolfpack are the Tarheels and the Blue Devils. Good luck to the next chump. :D

You are exactly right Buck. It has to be tough to find coach who is delusional enough to think he can outrecruit those two schools and, therefore, beat them for the conference title.

I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for NC State because of Jim Valvano and that '83 team that beat Houston for the title. His legacy is tremendous. The work he did on behalf of cancer research has saved lives and the Jimmy V Foundation is continuing to do so every day. I have his famous "Don't ever give up" speech saved on my dvr and I watch it from time to time.

Valvano is NC State basketball, that's it. Many lean years since and don't see that changing unless they get a big named Coach. There is a lot of talent in North Carolina, and since UNC and Duke mainly recruit nationwide, there is hope for a new coach. I bet they go after Vinny Del Negro.

I heard today that Athletic Director, Debbie Yow, said that not beating those two schools was one of the reasons that Sid was more or less forced to leave. It's going to be hard to find someone that is willing to try and change that mantra.
