NCAA Baseball Tournament

The only thing I know about it at all this year is that Kent State is back in it, by virtue of beating Akron U for the MAC title the other day. Kent State had a pretty magical run to the College World Series a year or two ago. I don't expect that to happen this year, but it was nice to see the program get some respect.

I usually start watching pretty soon on ESPN and start rooting for whatever team impresses me with their heart, hustle and respect for the game and their opponents. The only thing I don't like is the ting of the aluminum bats. I hate that, but I dig the rest of it.

I actually made a silly tweet about that regional and how it would make for a fun November non-conference basketball tournament (Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas being the other three teams). Louisville is probably one of the better teams in the nation nobody knows about, and Kentucky had a very good year in the SEC, so you know they're going to be an issue.

I'm shocked a Big Ten team got a national seed.

Even as an ACC guy, I love it. It's much harder for the northern teams to make college baseball work, so I love it when you see teams like Indiana last year or Kent State and Stony Brook (STONY BROOK!) in 2012 in the CWS . The fact that the Hoosiers followed it up with a strong season this year is even better.
