Neil was one of the really good old boys. I remember the day he died and it was such a shock. Neil might not have been a title holder, but he was certainly a champ to me.
Rodney Oor, who had a lot of potential, also lost his life during Daytona Speedweeks '94.
That prompted Rusty Wallace to lash out during the Driver's Meeting before Thursday's 125 mile twin qualifying races.

Now that we've had a re-generation of rookies...
I vote Helton show that video in both thursdays and sunday's drivers meetings

He was an outdoorsman like dale sr and childress. They were all hunting buddies and dale and richard helped him get back into racing. It must have been awfully hard on both of them when he died because of a wreck on the track. That's all part of racing but when dale died at daytona also it's hard to imagine how childress keeps so involved in the sport. It's good to see RCR almost back to the top of it's game.I found several web sites about Neil last night. He and Sr were good close friends.
Both died at Daytona of head injuries. Both crashed in turn 4, hitting the wall in about the same spot.
Kinda spooky.
