Anyone watch the latest 30 for 30 on ESPN about Marcus Dupree? Naturally, as a lifetime OU fan, I knew much about Marcus, but this show really help to set the record straight. I never knew that he had told Fred Akers of UT that he would go to Texas, but then two weeks later signed to go to the Sooners. It hurt when Marcus left OU in his sophomore season after a loss to Texas, never to play for the Sooners again. But by then, everyone in the country knew what kind of an athlete this young man was. He amassed 240 yards in the Fiesta Bowl against the #1 ranked defensive team in the country, Arizona State. They had allowed just over an average of 60 yards per game and Marcus racked up 240, but the Sooners lost the game. If you saw the show, you watched a very elegant young high school football player that was simply amazing. At 6 foot 3, he could run 100 yards in 9.5 seconds. I always said that he was just very immature to leave OU the way he did, and he basically admitted that in the show. So much influence on the outside and so young with such talent. He now seems to be very satisfied with his life and it gave me a different way of thinking about him. But man, was he something else to watch.
