New All-You-Can-Eat Grandstand Offers Unique Experience for Race Fans
Race fans will have the opportunity to "Feast with the Beast" during the Bank of America 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event Saturday night, Oct. 13, at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
With assistance from Joey Chestnut, winner of the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest and the world's No. 1 ranked competitive eater, speedway President H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler introduced the track's All-You-Can-Eat Grandstand.
This new concept is the latest in a long list of fan-related innovations Lowe's Motor Speedway has brought to the NASCAR experience. "We are taking the extremely popular all-you-can-eat buffet concept and making it part of the ticket price for the Bank of America 500," Wheeler said. "Lowe's Motor Speedway has always been about providing the fans additional value for their entertainment dollar. Now, they can have all the food and drinks they want without having to pull additional cash out of their wallets. This is a great way to make an affordable race experience even more fun."
"The All-You-Can-Eat Grandstand is definitely my type of place," said Chestnut, a college student from San Jose, Calif., who downed a world record 66 hot dogs and buns in just 12 minutes to win the legendary contest at Nathan's on Coney Island.
Wheeler shuddered at the thought of Chestnut purchasing a $59 ticket for the All-You-Can-Eat Grandstand.
"We would definitely lose money on him," Wheeler said with a big laugh. "Sixty-six hot dogs at $3 each is $198! And that's before he has a Coke or bottle of water to wash them all down."
The menu for the All-You-Can-Eat Grandstand consists of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, popcorn, peanuts, soft drinks and water. A special buffet-style concession area will open one hour prior to the start of the Bank of America 500 and will remain open for two hours after the green flag is waved.
The All-You-Can-Eat Grandstand is comprised of three sections in the spacious Diamond Tower Terrace and Jewel Box, overlooking Turn 2 of the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Tickets start at just $59 and are also available for $79, $89 and $99, depending on seating location. When entering Gate 20 on race day, fans with tickets for the All-U-Can-Eat Grandstand will be given a special wristband that will allow them into the Feast with the Beast concession area operated by Levy Restaurants.
The Bank of America 500 on Saturday, Oct. 13, is round five of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and traditionally plays a pivotal role in deciding who claims the series championship. Tickets for the Bank of America 500, including the All-U-Can-Eat Grandstand, can be purchased by calling 1-800-455-FANS or online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com.
