Awwwww, how cute (even tho that looks like last year's pic). I bet there will be LOTS more!

I don't have a digital cam or a scanner. That is a file photo from one webpage or another.

Boys or girls.....will be 7 to 10 years before I can tell for sure. Am expecting to find 3 to 6 more within the next month.

3 to 6 more? wow. If you do get pictures we'd love to see them.

Found another desert tortoise hatchling this morning.

Sprinkled some, (said to trigger an instinctual thing to run get something to drink or eat which brings them out of their hidey holes) waited a while, crawled the grass on my hands and knees, decided it was safe to mow the lawn but set the wheels really high anyways, mowed the lawn, went inside to clean up, came back out to take a look prior to leaving the house and there was Cookie nosed up against an upside-down little one in the middle of the driveway. Spent about an hour crawling thru the undergrowth along the driveways edge but found no more.

It's often that I have watched the torts flip each other back over....I leave them be for a while if they are in the shade....might come a time when there ain't nobody around to help them...... and can only guess that this is what Cookie was trying to do.

Anyways, three plus one makes four.
