Got my new C Pap setup today and will use it for the first time tonight. Sure hope I begin to feel more awake during the days. Just a thought, but I don't think I'll have any problems going to sleep with the mask on. I'm about half asleep now after talking my sleeping pill. Will give a report on it tomorrow.

Till then, tata.

I don't know how anybody gets any sleep with one of those. They are so loud.

This one isn't loud at all. We sleep with a large fan on for noise and you ca barely hear the CPap machine.

I'm going to try and crawl into the bedroom instead of walking in there. I'm afraid that I would fall. and it's taking me 5 minutes to write a sentence.

I'm ooooooooooooooooffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

My dad uses one and when I visit him in Vegas I can hear his all the way in the living room.

I have been using one for about two years now.

I thought for sure I was going to have to give up driving. Seemed like had to take a break after 3 hours of driving because I was getting sleepy. I don't have that problem anymore since using the CPAP.

Best thing I ever did.................. went for a sleep study and found out I my breathing would stop about 42 times every hour. No wonder I felt like **** every day behind the wheel. LOL

Anyway, I feel as if it saved my job as there are weeks like this week that I have to drive across the country to Vegas and those are 10 to 11 hour days behind the wheel.

Didn't take long to get used to the mask. I actually looked forward to it as I now fall asleep much faster with the mask. I guess being a former firefighter, I was used to wearing a mask and actually like the positive pressure ventilation.

My daughter has an O2 concentrator and a compressor with humidifier and heater on every night. I can not sleep if it's not running. If it is the slightest bit off, I can tell it immediately.
My dad needs a c-pap.. He refuses to go for the sleep study. We can't make him understand how much better he would feel. Stubborn. :)

I've been using a cpap for about a year or so now. Mine is amazingly quiet. I'm not sure how much of a difference I noticed until I ran out of distilled water for it and kept forgeting to buy more so I went several days without using it. I could tell a pretty big difference in how much sleepier and crabier I was during the day. I still can't sleep extremely well because of the pain I am in, but the machine definitely helps me get more rest out of the sleep I can manage.

BO, this machine is also so very quiet that when I turned it on, the wife asked how loud would it be. I told her that it was already on.

The first night went fairly well, but of course, it will take a little getting used to. I felt as though I got some great sleep and I don't feel nearly as tired today. I woke up once needing to head to the bathroom and tried to unhook the hose from the mask, but wasn't successful so I unhooked it at the machine. I thought, what would the dogs do if they saw me this way? LOL

:AHHHH: I sure the dogs wouldn't mind to bad. LOL :D

I also have sleep apnea. I don't remember the number of incidents I had during the sleep study but was rated as severe.
I just can't wear a mask. I've tried several types including the "nose pillows", I can't do it. The 02 generator was a diasaster too, wound it around my neck almost strangling myself.
My 'phobia" is so bad I almost have to force myself to wear a light weight paper dust mask when sanding.
I know it's all in my head but I just can't do it. The mask, the positive pressure just freaks me out.

My second night was much better and I'm sure it only gets better with time. I did find out that I didn't have to have it nearly as tight as the tech showed me. With the connector to the hose able to swivel, I just put the hose above my head and I can turn to either side without a problem. I don't even notice when I do.

Buck, as the face cushion gets older, you will have to tighten up the bands some more.

My only complaint is that the band looses its elasticity too quick. Only get about a month or two the max and you have to make the mask really tight to get a proper seal.

Do you know what your numeric pressure setting is on your machine? Just curious.

I am supposed to be new cushions and bands about once a month or so.

My numeric pressure is 11 psi. My machine is set to automatic and starts at 6 and will go to 11 when it senses that my breathing has ceased.
