New car!

Do not let go of your Subi!

I had to. The wheel broke off and the state of North Carolina wouldn't let me get it towed home. They called their own tow shop which essentially stole the car. They want $3,000 for the car or $500 for the tags. I'm pissed.

That is a bunch of horse****. Literal highway robbery. Raise hell! $3,000? That is so ****** up.

For all the problems you have with cars have you ever thought of buying a bicycle?

How did you get a $3,000 tow bill? The tags are yours, who is attempting to charge you $500 for them?

Long story but it's nice and illegal what's going on. The car was towed when the right front tire broke and flew off. And I mean literally flew. Whole front end was destroyed. Actually, I was lucky it broke off at a low rate of speed on a straight and not when I was going 75 mph or I probably wouldn't have to worry about a new car.

$3,000: Tow fees, storage fees, paperwork fees, fees to have it towed home (the entire front end is destroyed) and so on.

Sounds like you have a bit of a battle on your hands. Good luck if you decide to pursue getting the car back.

I think I'd be in contact with a attorney. We have a PUC here, Public Utilities Commission, which regulates rates charged. You can get a 18 wheeler towed for 3 grand.

When you buy a Dodge do they still throw in a free transmission? Just askin' that all.

Good for you, Andy. Congrats. I'm borrowing my sister's 98 Windstar that smells like something died in it and I have to take it to a job interview and I hope I don't smell like that when I get there. So, I jealous even if no one else is. And don't listen to Bobw. I worked with a huge tranny shop here for a long time and trust me, all makes and models need trannies any more.

I had the Chrysler 300m version of that car series and it was a reliable vehicle, I liked it. Over 11 years, outside normal maintenance, I replaced the air conditioner evaporator (expensive), a sensor wire to the transmission (too close to the exhaust), and a door lock solenoid. I put 140,000 miles on it.

Yeah the transmission sensor is bad but that's, ****, $12. I don't have any problems with it even with the bad sensor though. Not gonna be too picky when I shell out $400 for something.

I can see, no pun intended, your first rant now,
"I can't see at night! Dodge headlights suck!"
Just sayin'

Good luck, Andy! I owned a car rental business for seven years back in the eighties and had mostly Chrysler products. Everyone told me I was nutz for using Omni's but we got the best service and had lower maintenance costs compared to the GM and Fords. Chrysler definitely made some junk but my experience with them was great. Regular and preventative maintenance is key.

Wanna bet? Don't be letting your gator mouth say things your canary ass can't back up. Just sayin'

This is in chit chat not the podium waltersswtbob55. So bye now Ta-Ta.

Well, it's not going to win any car shows, Andy, but we all have to do what we have to do. It definitely looks better than some some of clunkers I drove in school...a Chevy Citation with no rear shocks comes to mind as well as a Mercury Lynx with 4 bad wheel beaings and an exhaust held on with apple juice cans/radiator hose clamps. Those were the days.

The transmission shop said that's about the only problem for that tranny.

Plastic lens from that era get cloudy. I used a couple polish only products but 3M has a kit with sanding disks and polish that works great. Products that just use polish don't work.

I'm just worried about the Subi.... Someone wants that car and they are trying to shaft you to get it. Burn that motherphucker down!!!!!!!

Yeah! Andy in an American car. I'll have another sip of this adult beverage to that. :beerbang:

I bought my current SHO with 140,000 miles on it in 2008 for $1,000. My blue 92 I also bought with 140k on it for a g in 2004 if my blue SHO hadn't gotten wrecked I'd still be driving it. Of all the cars I've owned in my life that blue 92 was the best car I've ever owned. Congrats Andy on the old car that's new to you. Is it a 5 speed?

I think andy needs a job where he can afford a car.....

Waits patiently for the next car thread from andy
