New Chase format puts emphasis on winning (haven't we heard this before?)

No not a woulda, shoulda, coulda. Just saying that if this format was in play for 2004 Jimmie would have won the championship. None of the other years would have changed.

Nascar is about to announce that the Champions provisionals will be reduced from unlimited to 6 in a season.

All Star changes. Total laps will be reduced from 90 to 80. They will now run 4 20 lap segments. The pit crew challenge during the week will determine the order in which the teams select their pit stalls for the race.Teams must pit before the final segment and how the cars leave pit road will determine how they line up for the restart.

I like the change about the Champions Provisionals. Especially since my driver will not have to use them. :D Wonder if the driver will be able to choose which track he uses them at?
I don't like the changes to the All Star Race.

Dale Jarrett is a bit upset about the number of provisionals that a past champ can use. What has ticked him off is what happened at the beginning of last year. Terry Labonte was hired to drive for a new team for one reason and one reason only...to make the race, even if he had to use a past champ provisional. What Dale is ticked is that he is not a hired gun and is in a full time seat with his team. He does understand the idea of keeping a team from buying a past champ to drive to make the race, but with all the new teams starting this year, he doesn't feel that it's right for a full timer such as he. This past year, of course Terry Labonte was used, but so was Bill Elliott and even though Bill has his past champ to fall back on, only one position is handed out and the latest champ gets the spot, which did eliminate Bill from a race or two.

I do however like the idea of limiting this provisional to 6. I think it's only fair and if a team needs to make the race, they need to get their team ready.

i dont like the idea of "seeding" for the chase. Im just old school and its consistenty(sp) that wins championships.
