I can't wait. I already have a "Fergy's new Camaro fund" account set up. This will be my third Camaro.

It isn't retro enough, you can't beat what Ford did with the new Mustang, added the new technology yet kept that old look. I think Chevy missed the mark on the Camaro, but then again General Motors has been missing the mark on most of their products of late. I owned 4 Camaros growing up: 69 hardtop, 69 ragtop, 70SS, and a 74LT. The 70SS was a car, lots of straight line speed, ragtop was fun on sunny days , but the powerglide tranny sucked. The hardtop was a work in progress that never got finished, but it had some ponnies, 350, Holley 4 barrel, after market manifold , with a Hurst 4 speed. Man i miss those days, i could actually tune an engine back then...sigh.

MP, I don't agree with you on the retro look. It looks great to me, new, yet with a touch of the old days. Now if only we could see a Yenko Camaro again. :)

I drive past the old Camaro/Firebird plant twice a week. I think their production quotas might be a bit low, considering that the building's not there anymore. Although the Home Depot warehouse looks like it might be big enough.

Chevy came up with the reto camero, long before Ford did with the mustang, Just did not release it as soon. About 15 years ago, i remember seeing a desing for reto cars and the camero was one of them.

~2002 Pontiac Sunfire - 60,000 no problems
~2000 Chevy s-10 - 111,000 had a small part replaced in the alt. this week, orther then that not problems.
~1987 GMC 3500 - no tell how many miles, has a missing problem, but we just have not took time to really work on it, we think its in the dis cap.

~In my racecar i have a stock cheby 4cyl motor, i turn close to 7 grand durring a race, motor does not give me any troble at all, It drinks a little oil, but that is expected turring that many RPMs in a race, and with a motor that has close to 150,000

~I have a 1990 Caviler for parts, it has over 200,000. and would be running fine but the tranny is out of it, and the car has been raged out big time.

I am GM all the way baby! :-D

I have a 1989 Buick Regal with 192,582 miles on it , use Mobil 1 synthetic every 3000 miles engine runs great. That is an older car, the older GM cars are ok, but the newer ones, 1998-2006 just don't seem to be stylish or dependable enough. Obviously GM is doing something wrong, actually all the Big 3 are in trouble. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru are kicking their ass as far as reliability, quality, and workmanship. I'd love to see an all American car make it to the top 5 list again, but sadly i think that time is a long way off. I drove a 2005 Dodge Strattus sedan about 3 weeks ago when my 2500 Dodge Diesel was getting serviced. That car was a piece of crap, we drove it up to the beach, a 2 hour drive, and half way there the AC blows up. Only a little over 12,000 miles on it too. If american cars were made as good as their foreign competitors then i might buy one. My next car will be most likely a Subaru Legacy GT, my next truck will be definetly a Toyota Tacoma. Although i like the Dodge Cummins Diesel, the substandard parts that Dodge uses in their trucks (brakes, transmissions, front end parts just to name a few) have made my decision for me. I have owned 2 Dodge trucks in the last 6 years, a 1500 with a 5 speed and the Diesel with the 6 speed. Both trucks i had the front end components replaced just after 30,000, the brakes didn't even last 20,000! I'm not a heavy guy on the brakes either , i use the gears to slow my trucks down. When i took the trucks to my mechanic he told me that the parts that Dodge uses in their brakes, ball joints and other front end components are substandard that is why they wear out so quickly. I now have 154,000 on the Diesel, the engine still is very strong, but the rest of the truck is wearing out. I have to eat it though, still paying on the loan for another 3 years, so i will drive it to death....lol. :)

Mopardh, I was sitting talking to a GM dealer yesterday (buying a 2005 Malibu) and I'm not sure what set him off, but he went off on a tear about how GM's pissing away billions paying people to stay at home because of the ludicrous union contracts they've signed over the years ... that the other countries don't have to support. His point (I think, he was rambling on pretty fast in french) was that they've unionized themselved out of business.

This has killed the American auto industry, but the most significant issue i think is the insurance costs that the big auto industry in America has to absorb. I read a few weeks ago that $1500 of every car is insurance costs. If the USA had a national helath plan we wouldn't have to put up with all this BS., funny how it seems to work fine in Canada. Why can't it here?

It looks more like the new mustang, I would not own either considering the price tag of the new 'stang. I also looked at the new charger with a Hemi, same deal. 35 grand for any of these cars is a bit steep for me...

No, it doesn't. It's a freaking fiasco, with people in the ER for nose bleeds, and the flu. And the worst offenders are the poor, who aren't paying into the system to start with. If I told you how much of my pay goes into that program, you'd never believe me.

So tell i'd like to know what % you have to pay into the system? It can't be any more a fiasco than paying $300/month for health insurance then having to pay another absurd amount for perscription drugs that should be a third of what the actual price is. Americas' health system is run by big business ( insurance companies, pharmaceutical corps., and mega hospitals). The little business guy in this country gets raped. Also the big companies like GM have to fork out huge amounts of dollars for health insurance that we in turn pay for in the cost and quality of our new cars. It is a loses lose situation.
