Hey buddies!

I´m new to the forums and I just wanna say hi to everyone.

I´m a big racing fan from Mexico. I used to watch races constantly, but for some personal reasons I couldn´t follow them for a couple of years and I missed some changes.

Therefore, I´m asking you to hook me up on this one: I haven´t been able to find out with Dodge is no longer participating in the Nascar series. Can anybody give me a hand?

Thanks a lot!

Welcome Rob to the forum , it's great to have another fan with us . If you have questions , fire away , we'll answer them (even if we really don't know ) . I think you are asking why Dodge is no longer in the series . If so, the short answer is because Penske went to Ford and left Dodge without a top notch team and without an engine builder .They haven't ruled out getting back in at some point.

Thanks dude.

Seems quite difficult to believe that “Chrysler Group’s decision to leave NASCAR competition at the end of the 2012 season was based solely on not being able to develop the correct structure to fit our overall business and competitive objectives.”
Sounds as they ran out of funding...

Thanks Ted. It´s actually mentioned in the link BobbyFord just sent me with the official Dodge statement: "At the time Chrysler withdrew, Mr. Gilles said that Penske had offered a “one-stop shop” for engines, drivers, and sponsors that could not be replaced in a way that would allow SRT to race at the level that was desired, in the time available." And there´s more: "The chief of Dodge Motorsports is hopeful that the manufacturer will return to NASCAR in the not too distant future: "Going forward, we're going to take the year off, evaluate the potential," .

Evaluate the potential???
Nascar´s potential?
Men, I don´t know which other series in the states or elsewhere will offer Dodge the huge benefits (in all terms) Nascar brings to racers.
Maybe if Dodge is planning to move to Europe and race in the DTM series might be a good justification, yet I guess is not the same.

Thanks dude.

They say that funding wasn't an issue , but a lot of folks here feel there was little ,if any , North American racing support from their head office overseas.

Gotta go out , but there are a lot of smarter guys than me here that will fill you in . I'm the resident old dummy who dispenses sage advice to the under 60 crowd .:D
