Hi folks - I wanted to introduce myself and join your lively and informed discussions. I am an active member on other special-interest forums and I really enjoy them. I'm long-time Nascar fan and as I have gotten older, I find fewer and fewer people to actually talk about racing. At least not with ones that know what they're talking about. I listen to Nascar on Sirius but it isn't the same as joining the discussion. I'm really looking forward to joining you here.
Though I watched Nascar from time to time as a kid in the 80s, my awakening came in April 1996, when a friend talked me into driving down from Nashville to go to Talladega. I have since been to 17 races at 8 different tracks, and I have watched (either live or on the DVR) nearly every race the Cup series has run since that Sunday afternoon at Talladega in 1996. I truly love the sport, and all that goes with it. For a bit in 2005, I wrote a Nascar column in a local weekly newspaper in New Orleans - and I also wrote freelance pieces about some high-profile legal cases (I'm an attorney) for Nascar in the mid-2000s that were picked up by a couple of motorsports and sports law websites. I never did any of that for money (I didn't get paid!), I just really enjoy talking about Nascar.
I think that sports chat forums are the best way to join other people who know what they're talking about and do it in a respectful way. This forum looks very active (and I love that I had to actually answer a trivia question in my registration). Thanks again for having me around.
