new monte carlo pic?

It sort of reminds me of the '03 Pontiac, with that pointier nose. Plus, the logo seems awfully high.

Not sure if I like it.

That is a sweet ride!! Like they said it is similar to the 2003 Grand Prix, just without the split grill

It looks similar to pontiac b/c it is the same car. Common templates next year.

i dont know if i like it yet, will probably take a while to get used to

Take the front air dam off and put a bumper on it, raise it a height that will allow you get into your driveway.......then I might be able to identify one on the highway.:D Looks exactly like a racecar to me!:)

Looks good to me, but I think the "flames" make it look pionty.

DE, if you build it, I will buy:D

You gonna take me a spin in that machine Kat?:D

I like the paint scheme on Harvick's car, but i don't know if i'm buying the front on that Chevy.

I don't know if I like that front bumper sticking out like that, but that paint scheme is real nice. Black with silver flames looks real good in my opinion.

i like the paint scheme..good to see more black on the goodwrench car again.....just not sure about it bein a "chevy"...lol

The silver sort of plays with the black hood, giving it a really distinctive look.

But that Chevy front.... what, doesn't it scream Chevy enough already? What are they tying to do to that thing?

Sure PB, as long as DE gives me a good interest rate so I can afford it! YOU get to drive the TRUCK:p

The next thing we are going to see is the nose of the cars being the same shape as their logos.

Got that right.

I think it looks about like a supermodified. It'll look better goin' fast!!!

it looks like they are trying to stretch the nose out so it crosses the finish line faster.

Every brand does that. It used to be once every 5 or so years the car would change, now it seems like very two or three years. The excitement of getting a new car look just isn't there anymore, but they have to in order to keep competitive. Maybe it is time for nascar's one body rule.

I don't know. I might eat some crow on this latter, but I always thought sharp leading edges were bad. They create a lot of vortices. On the trailing edges they are ok, because they shear the air away from the body. Plus that cowcatcher seems to be directing air around and not over the car...hmmm...

I'm really curious now and wonder if the new Ford and Mopar front ends will be similar or not. I hope not, just for the sake of seeing a different approach. Maybe I'll learn something here?

Windsor

I don't know windsor, these guys and their wind tunnels are finding new ways to reduce drag. I always heard rounded edges with decreasing radii were the most aerodynamic too. I see the reason for directing air around instead of over though.......I think that's an effort to reduce that "aero push". We'll see next year if it works.:D

More like a brick tossed out the window of an airplane!!:)

That makes sense Wrangler, but do you think it hurts in overall front downforce?...and maybe opens a big pocket behind the car?

Windsor

I can only relate to my experience with airplanes. The shape and slope of the overall car can produce downforce (the Space Shuttle does this in reverse) so I can see the downforce remaining the same or even getting better. The turbulance behind the car is something I would have to agree with you on....turbulance is a big producer of drag but not necessarily effecting the downforce. Guess they figure they can overcome the drag with horsepower.......at least that would be my guess. The "pocket of air" once detached from the car would have no effect on it........but the following car could maybe pick up a good draft. The spoiler (on aircraft it lives up to it's name......it reduces or spoils lift which is to say produces downforce) sort of makes trying to eliminate all that turbulance sort of useless anyway.:)

I'm guessing on a lot of this.......I just know basic aerodymanics.:)
