Hollywood making movie about NASCAR's early days
Hollywood has taken over the town of Archdale, as moviemakers shoot a movie about the early days of NASCAR. The movie, titled "Red Dirt Rising," is set in the early days of racing, but is a story about the relationship between a man and his father. The father, Jimmy Lewallen, is a moonshiner-turned-racecar driver in the 1930's and 40's. The son, Garry Lewallen, is the Archdale police chief turned movie mogul. The moviemakers have created a realistic set modeled after the old Tri-city Track on Johnson Street in High Point. -- WXII 12
