DALLAS - Maybe it's the result of a mobile workforce but it seems society just can't put down cell phones.

"You're in your car and that phone beeps you want to know what just came across the phone," said Larry Eppard, MobileLutions. "Anybody who's got a smart phone who says they haven't done that is probably lying."

Texting and driving causes 200,000 accidents a year, according to the National Safety Council.

But MobileLutions, a North Texas company, created an app for that.

It's called MobiLoc.

The program virtually pushes the ignore button for you, not letting you email or text - even read them - any time your phone is moving.

"Everything is active in the background," Eppard said. "You'll continue receiving texts. You'll continue receiving email you just can't see them or view them."

i've got something cheaper that most of us already have. it's called a hammer. :)

It's kinda sad when they have to make a phone ignore itself because a human don't have sense enough to when they're driving.:(
If a call or text is important enough for me to feel like I need to take it right then, I just pull over to the side of the road. Other wise I just wait til I get to where I'm going and call or text the person back.
When I get to where I'm so stupid that I need a phone to let me know when it's not okay to answer it, then I'm to stupid to need a phone.:)

When I'm driving my car and someone texts me, "Incoming Message" comes up on my dash display, I click the "OK" button on the steering wheel and the dash display reveals the name of the person texting, I click the "OK" button again and the car verbally reads the text via the audio system.

My personal vehicle. Microsoft Sync equipped Ford. Also has a 2.0 USB port in the dash as well as a one-wire port for an Ipod. The USB port currently has an 8 gig flash drive in it with a couple thousand songs. You can verbally tell the car to play a song, artist or genre. The car will pair with up to 12 different phones, automatically links to the phone when you get in the car and turn on the key. There is also a feature where the car will automatically upload your phonebook. Calls are made by pushing the phone button on the wheel and telling the car what name you want to call.

What gets me is people who talk on their phones while they are at the gym! That irks me to no end, yelled at a guy i was training the other day, "look you are here to work out that means undivided attention to what you ar doing, not yapping on your cell or texting". The guy said "I know I know won't happen again", next week the same thing happens. I took his cell put it in my locker and told him he can go an hour without it and don't bring it next time.

When I see people doing crap like that I eyeball the hell out of them to the point that they become uncomfortable and either hang up or leave.

I love the earpiece wearing crowd who are completely oblivious to all other people or activities around them.Hey, Spock, Pay attention. Pull out the earpiece and get a a life:sarcasm:

I'm eternally glad that I never became important enough to never be in a position where I was always available to be bothered by a telephone call.

I'm also glad I was never important enough to be able to ignore posted signs like "Please Turn Off Cell Phone," "No Parking Here," "Handicap Parking," and "Please Return Shopping Cart."

I have sync in my f150 too. There is a usb port behind the radio I use also. I have a usb cable going from there to my glove box with a 300GB Hdd in there.

Sync is awsome..but the directions part of it sucks tho.

I wonder how long it will be before Sync is available in all vehicles (not that I'd buy anything but a Ford anyway :D ). I know that Ford has a contract to be the test manufacturer for Microsoft but I don't know when the contract expires. I can't imagine that Microsoft would limit their capacity to market a product.
