New Points System

Mark Martin and several other drivers think there should be a "different" points system used for the 10 championship races than the same system used during the other races. One bad race early on can almost knock a driver out of contention, such as what happened to Jimmy Johnson last year. Martin thinks that points should be awarded on a 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, basis each race for the 10 cars in the Championship playoff.

I kinda like Martin's idea at first glance. What do you think.

I tend to agree, no more than 10 cars like Martin says too, get rid of the million for 11th, i don't think that is needed. Also for the regular 26 weeks and the the 10 chase races give the pole sitter 5 bonus pts.

I would keep the 11th place award. It gives those outside the Chase something to go for. Otherwise they're just riding. Especially those who you know aren't going to win.

Hey if they are just riding around maybe they don't belong at the Cup level.

^ dale jr, jeff gordon,,elliot sadler and company didn't make it last year...so that means they dont deserve to be on the cup level?
