New Rules at 'Dega? NASCAR is considering new rules for the tour's October Talladega race: raising the rear spoiler with stiffer rear springs (425 pounds, instead of 350) and opening up the engine restrictor plate holes by one-32nd of an inch. That should give drivers another 15 horsepower for more throttle response, without adding any speed.(Winston Salem Journal)

Does this mean that the rest of the field will have a plate the same size as junior?

nope, just the rest of the RCR cars

This actually sounds like what drivers like Rusty Wallace have been recommending Nascar do for almost the past decade.

Raising the rear spoiler will slow down the cars, but also make them easier to race. Enlarging the restrictor plate holes give them more horsepower to run with, which is what the teams want.

Hell, take the spoiler off, make them use bias ply tires, square up the aerodynamics and let the real racers go to the front. Throw a mandatory caution with 15 or so laps to go, let them pit for fuel and fresh bias ply's, and kiss this fuel milage crap goodbye.

Will never happen, but a guy can dream...........

That would make for a hell of a race, King. BTW welcome to the board.
