new sponsor for cup?

Tonight I was listening to Benny Parsons on PRN. The guest on the show was Humpy Wheeler. Humpy said that an anouncement will be made in 60-90 days about a new sponsor for "Winston Cup"
Does anyone know anymore about this?
 
I don't "know" anything. But I suspect Budweiser is a front-runner since NASCAR has been bending over backwards to give their driver a lot of face-time. I would think they would not neccesarily want to go that route if they are as worried about their image as they say they are. Going from a cigarette sponsor to a beer sponsor isn't much of an improvement to me, but what do I know? McDonalds and Coke are also very good bets to fork out that kind of cash and have a much more family-friendly corporate image. Then again, there may be someone we don't know anything about at this time.
 
I've read that visa and microsoft have thrown their name in the hat also. do you think that when winston leaves, nascar will change the name of the winston? I cant imagine the winston not being "the winston".
 
Bud cup, Coke cup, Visa cup, Mickey D cup and Microsolf cup. Not much of a ring to any of them. :D
 
Hey maybe Jockey underwear could be the sponsor; it would simply be called "The Cup" :D

I don't know, but they may not call it "cup" mabey just "series" ......*bud series* just a thought.
no matter what they call it will be hard to get used to something else.

The way i look at it ....what does it matter what it is called? You say a phrase enough times,you get used to it. All that matters to me is that they continue to race, the sponsor i could care less about! <_<
