Recent 20 hour downtime was unscheduled, prompted by repeated deaths of Apache, our former web server software. I finally got fed up with it and decided to ditch it entirely. I'm now using a new one called nginx and it's taking some time to tweak it to get it all working again.

Please excuse any other short downtimes (or long ones, but not so much excuse them as bear with me through them :p) as I tweak things more so that hopefully it never goes down again.

*knock on wood*

hm...that's strange that apache would just crash...granted i dont have too much experience with it, just srange it'd crash out of nowhere.

Wasn't exactly out of nowhere... I was throwing about 2,000 connections at a time at it with one of my sites, and it just doesn't deal well with that.

now that makes a little more sense. I could see it folding under the roughly 3000 connections total you probably have going through it.

I am just glad it is back up. I was about to have Nascar DT's. LOL. No race on Sunday then last night I couldn't even talk Nascar.

Hmmm, it's been going in and out with me. I hope the worst is over, but who knows. I need my R/F! :D

Ok, it was a P.I.A. but nothing that I couldn't live with. I just went outside and worked in the garden yesterday.

I was just REALLY happy to find it back. I just joined a bit ago and really liked this forum and was afraid I didn't save the right link. WHEW! :)
