Newman's 3rd Bud Pole of the season (and 4th of his Winston Cup career)
was a record-breaker besides. He was over 2/10th's quicker than his
nearest rival....and in a sport where thousandths matter, that's an
eternity. His previous poles this season were at Fontana in March and
at Chicagoland in July.

Newman will be joined on the front row by Johnny Benson. This will be
JB's best starting spot since he had the outside pole at Las Vegas in
March of 2001.

Bobby Labonte (3rd) has his best starting spot since he was outside the
front row at Dover in September of 2001.

Greg Biffle (4th....and subbing for Bobby Hamilton again this weekend)
had his career best qualifying run today. His previous best starting spot
was a 29th at Fontana in March.

Mike Skinner (5th) has his best starting spot since he started on the
outside pole when we were here in July.

Kurt Busch (6th) had his best qualifying run since he had the outside
pole at Chicagoland in July.

Kyle Petty (13th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 11th at
Dover in June.

STREAKIN.....Mark Martin has 3 Top-10 starts in a row.

Newman is bound to win one of these races soon. i hope it is this weekend, with Jeff second (of Course!!) I picked him for my fanastyl league. :)

I think he's passed Johnson for rookie of the year now, and it's going to be hard for Johnson to gain ground on Newman if Newman keeps getting these poles. Not to mention that Newman also has the most top-5 finishes out of anyone else this season, sitting on 12.
