What do y'all think of that FanScan??
I emailed sprint to find out when it will be available for us race fans to purchase.
I think it's awesome!

I think it's pretty neat! A little pricey if the $400 pricetag that they said it is going to be is correct.

That's the thought we had with a regular scanner. Renting one each time we went to the races became a bit too expensive so we decided to buy one. Now we use it weekly at our local races. Don't think that would be something you could do with the FanScan though. I just wonder how long they will go without selling to the public, afterall, if the crowd can only get one by renting it, that will allow the renting company to make some big cash.

Does anyone know if it is something that you need to use only at the track? With Nextel's network I'm thinking they may be able to push it out everywhere. :growl:

I understand about the scanner renting, buck. I didn't even bother with renting, I purchased my scanners since we have season tickets to TMS.

GoDJ, I'm not sure about being able to use them when not at the racetrack.

It almost sounded like at first it worked at the track and then later this summer it would work over the Nextel network.

Check it out on Nextel's website. A little more info than you saw in pre-race.
