Since we’re only a little over two weeks from kickoff night I figured I would go ahead and gauge interest for bringing this game back.
If a few others still want to play I’ll be glad to run the weekly Pick ‘Em again.

I’ve been wondering if you were gonna do it again. Didn’t want to ask as I didn’t want you to feel pressured to do it. But yep, I’m in!

Returning for its fifth consecutive season, it's time for R-F NFL Weekly Pick ‘Em.

Format will stay as close as possible to previous seasons. For those unfamiliar, each week I will post a listing of that week’s games, and you simply pick who you think will win each game. To do this, copy and paste the listing into a post and bold the winner or delete the team you think will lose.

For example: New England at NY Jets

New England at NY Jets
or
New England

At the bottom of the games each week I will post a bonus question. In the event two or more players pick the same number of games correctly, the bonus question will serve as a tie-breaker . If multiple players tie on games and the bonus, the player with earlier submittal of picks wins. Any player is eligible to receive an extra point from the bonus question regardless of where they finish in the weekly standings. During the playoffs, additional bonus questions will be available each week.

On the bonus question, your submittal must be in before kickoff of that week’s first game. If games start before you’ve submitted, you may still pick for the rest of the games, but bonus picks will not be taken as to keep it fair for everyone.

A listing of Week 1 games will be posted shortly. Good luck to everyone and thanks for playing!

Obviously we're still a long ways from the end, but I thought it'd be better to make this proposal before the game starts. But what are the chances that picks could be made in secrecy through PM for the playoffs, or at least the last couple of rounds? Let's assume going into the SB, the only player capable of catching the leader is the guy in second. The guy in 1st could simply wait until the 2nd place player makes his selection, then 1st place could go and intentionally pick the exact same picks. At that point, it wouldn't matter because they'd have the same picks, so no ground could be made. On the same token, if the guy in 1st made his selection first, the guy in second could intentionally pick the opposing team as that'd be his only chance to overtake the leader. It's obviously not my game and it's totally up to @REBS31 on how the game is played. Just thought I'd throw out a suggestion. I'm just glad someone is willing to run an NFL pick-em game on here.

Thanks for doing this again @REBS31

I’ve had similar thoughts before, usually it was during the middle of the year and I didn’t want to catch anyone off guard with any rule changes well-into the season. With that said I totally agree with your thinking and now right before season kickoff is probably a good time to implement it:

RULE UPDATE: Beginning with Week 2, players will have the option to either publicly post their picks or send to me via PM. All bonus pick and time of submittal rules still apply.

Since many have already submitted for Week 1, all picks should be posted publicly in the interest of fairness. In a similar fashion to the NASCAR Pick ‘Em game, I’ll attempt to post everyone’s picks shortly after kickoff of Thursday Night Football each week. As usual, anyone who misses early kickoff games any week may still submit picks for the remaining games via their method of choice.

Thank you for bringing this up @Brentford, hopefully I can implement it smoothly.

What the hell, I'll throw one away and pick Dallas tonight. Will fill in the rest later. Hopefully we get at least as many players to join in as last year.

Tie-Breaker: Denver

Not sure if I will make through the season due to sponsorship issues.

I might be an 0-1 , one and done deal.

But I will pick a Dallas upset over the Iggles for tonight

Much respect for @REBS31. He does a great job this and is a great commissioner.

I am thinking I will just be a lurker rather than a participant. I have never had much sucess in Football leagues like this one.

I really enjoy football along with reading the weekly results here.
Best of luck to everyone.

Week 1 is in the books, and a little atypical from past first weeks, the scores are pretty tight, with all except yours truly scoring in the double digits. Starting off the season hot are @LibertyU24 and @gnomesayin who both went 13-3 on game picks. No bonus points, as there were no selections for Indianapolis to be the largest winner after their 25-point victory over Miami. By time of earliest submission, @LibertyU24 begins the year with the win. Thank you all for your participation, I'm glad to see many returning players, as well as a warm welcome to new competitor @ken.
