Channing Crowder, a former Florida Gator and Atlanta native, apparently isn’t sure where the plane is headed when it takes off this afternoon for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants in Wembley Stadium.

“I couldn’t find London on a map if they didn’t have the names of the countries,” Crowder said. “I swear to God. I don’t know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that. I found out yesterday that they speak english over there though so I'll be ok.

“I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. That’s the closest thing I know to London. He’s black, so I’m sure he’s not from London. I’m sure that’s a coincidental name.”

I'm sure his college faculty is just beaming with pride today ;)

There are so many things wrong with this I don't even know where to start. Although his just finding out yesterday that they speak english over there is probably a good place. Oh and London Fletcher not being able to be from London because he is black is kind of interesting too. :einstein:

If I'd had that person in class, I'd be on the phone chewing his butt.

BenOne, I'm with you --- there are so many things wrong with the statement, you can't find a starting point.

Yeah but he had the skills that count. I know a buckeye can understand that...

Oh look out, you'll probably pay for that one from DeeDee. :)

While this has been made very public, it isn't unusual at all. I've heard so many jokes about jocks being dumb that I can't remember all of them. This really does show that universities care more about the money that athletics can bring than actually teaching those gladiators something. And to think that this man has a gazillion times more money than I do, simply because of his sporting ability. Now if only we can get people to pay money, big bucks to see a mailman doing his route.

Hey, is there a good agent out there somewhere?

Wow.
I'm not sure what to say besides that.

And to think that my PAC (Phasician's Assistant Certified) daughter will be paying off her student loans for years makes this even sicker. SE HAS ADD, asthma, an education, a family and is setting a great example for others and I'm VERY proud of her. This fool needs to get an education in life skills as well as english.

Obviously, if you are a dork but can play ball, you can get through college.
I laugh anytime I hear a major sports figure say that someone "axed" them a question...:D

Lets dont forget the famous "u know" term that they use 95 times in a 100 word sentence. :growl: :growl:

I don't know this for sure, but said ignorant has been said to say that he was only joking. Ohhhhkay. What is the capital of the USA? Ahhhhh, New York? Okay, you can pass go and collect your five million dollar bonus.

So I'm watching our coach's TV show. They give accolades each week to a student athlete. This week it was a wide receiver, Andrew Evans. Not only was he on the ACC Honor Roll but also the Dean's list with a 3.47 gpa. I say this to say that not all student athletes are ignorant.
But, then again Andrew will never see an NFL contract so I'll let you draw your own conclusions...

How did I miss this one? Barelypure, kiss my butt! :p

It's sad that anyone could go to college and be this ignorant. Heck, a middle schooler should have more intelligence than this. Sad, that's all I can say.

BP, I do understand what you are trying to say, but let's not forget that there are still top college athletes that go on to be top NFL stars and then on after that. If you remember Alan Page, you'll remember him as being an NFL All Pro and a member of the NFL's Hall of Fame, but he also went on to become a member of Minnesota's Supreme Court. While there will always be those big brute athletes who are merely gladiators, there are also some very bright jocks who make it big as well. We just don't hear about them as much.

We just don't hear about them as much.

Maybe that's because they are in such a minority. That and with all the other's doing their "thang", like the Vikings pleasure cruise last year or Vick or any number of others, those who are just good people, like Torry and Terrence Holt, are lost in the static.
That, and maybe Page was from a different era where education was put more on the front burner by a lot of colleges rather than a win at all costs that you find at some. (I won't bring up THE OSU out of respect to DeeDee but you get my drift).

Oh, some time back there were those wanting to see a pic of DeeDee. I think I may have found one...
